What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 1)

My V5 arrived today, it looks like I have a very exclusive MX5. See below: its a 3 seater.

I can now hear you all opening your filing cabinets and checking V5s because, you never looked at it that closely before.

I have just double checked and cannot find the third seat, so my job today was sending it back to Swansea to be updated.

Big brake kit at last and braided lines all round.  Many thanks to Stewart @freakyparts top bloke and very helpful.

The MK2 I owned was down as a 4 seater, I only noticed it on the V5 after I’d owned it 2 years.

So I’m missing a seat?

Opened up the stupidly small drain holes in the ND’s plastic windscreen scuttle. These are always getting blocked by the slightest amount of debris and constantly have to be unblocked. Very carefully drilled them out using a 5mm diameter drill bit. Now draining much better!

Now that looks very purposeful indeed  like it!

Hiya Mick, you can still get the full floor mat sets on eBay for that version of mx5  and the rear seat protector cover!

And a dog guard to stop the dog from getting into the front seats.

Forgot about that Mick! Also the full 5 seat, vinyl seat cover set, specifically for the mx5

Rear wipers also available Barrie, a future mod for you

Thanks Mick, it’s amazing what’s available for the four seater version, even though it’s extremely rare

Having seen a 30AE in the flesh, the colour-coded air vent rings gave me an idea. Many thanks to RS for putting his rattle can skills to good use…

MX5 Mk3 Colour coded air vent rings

^^^^^ Love that green!

(yesterday evening)

I put some silver gaffer-tape on the passanger wing to ‘hide’ the rust-hole in the usual place behind the bumper (:))

might fit the new passanger wing (that was supplied with the car a year ago last march), obvoiusly the wing also needs fitting but…

nothing else to report…

Rich.

I proved the nay-sayers wrong (again) and evidenced that my little '5 is as practical as I could ever need it to be!

NBFL at the tip

NBFL with a boot full of beer!

Who needs a hatchback?!?

Fetched a suitcase back from Costco. Didn’t quite fit in the boot so lowered the roof and the missus had it on her lap while I drove steadily up the M1 !

I am liking the loading style, a lot.

Simple enough job - replace a blown dipped beam bulb. I mean, how hard can it be…?

Well, I decided that a matching pair of upgraded bulbs would be preferable (and in any case, headlight bulbs have a predetermined MTBF, so I generally replace as a pair anyway).

All I can say is that there is a special place in hell for whoever designed the access to the headlamp bulbs on a Mk3. And what’s with this bloody silly “adaptor” to allow an industry standard H7 bulb to be connected to the car’s electrics? Needless to say one of mine broke, which meant a job that on any sensible car would take 15-20 minutes ended up taking three flipping days!

If it was not for the fact that it’s such a delight to drive, I’d cheerfully chop it in tomorrow…

De-fogged my headlight following the procedure here --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=75&v=UEJbKLZ7RmM

Still to wax & buff them, that’s tomorrows’ job, will try & pot a couple of pics tomorrow

Washed and buffed both of them ready for the week ahead!

If it wasn’t such a fuss I would post a picture.
