What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 1)

Thinking about it, I think they said there was a tweak to the manifold.

The only option is that there has been a hardware change. Mapping doesn’t have to be one or the other, you CAN map to your tastes if you want less top end or bottom end, but loosing one won’t increase the other, you just loose one. If it’s all out power you map for you get it all. A remap simply optimises the algorithms controlling the hardware. It’s that simple.

As Satoshi says and I remember also being told by BBR, they have modified the exhaust manifold slightly to give more low down torque to make the car more “driveable” but this has been at the expense of top end power.

Fitted my Smart Roof Controller ( thanks Gary ), works a treat! Also added a bit of bling which feels lovely in the hand.

A new Chrome Bling Ring for my stubby aerial, not exactly a groundbreaking performance improvement, but just spent a lump on oil, oil filter, torque wrench ,socket set, and ramps etc, in order to service the old boy myself, but bling like this has surely got to be good for an extra 2-3 bhp :face_with_monocle:

Cam cover gasket changed today on my NA, don’t think there is meant to be oil on all of these surfaces. More pics on my reader rides thread

Yes. The previous one looks very blurred!
EDIT: Ha Ha I thought the blurred one was the old one. Doh!

Loving the Bling…might I ask where it was sourced ?

After making my first posts on the MX5OC, just had to open the top and have a drive around the block - only out for about 15 minutes, but as anyone here knows… it was still fun…!

The previous owner gave it to me, said he didn’t like it because it was cold but after using it today I much prefer it. It feels about the same weight as the original but just seems to catch the gears slicker unless its just in my head?

I have a solid satin finish aluminium gear knob on my mk3 and its fine, but its lighter than the original and heavier knob so it doesn’t have the same throw weight if you know what I mean, but as for being cold, jeez, we sit in these cars all year round, lid down, plus a lot of us are ex motorcyclists , and we are saying the gearstick is COLD and hurting our delicate hands ? , come on ! we are a nation that has Spitfire pilots and open top sports cars in our blood, so we shouldn’t be complaining about cold hands and body parts when owning a soft top sports car, it goes with the territory and its part of the experience, turn the heater up , it works well !

Always thought the standards on this forum were a little higher than the more seedy side of the web. But even here people are starting to post knob pictures. Really gentlemen? Standards?

Wait until some summer sun is on your knob and then wait while it burns your hand. They do sell knitted knob covers for those sensitive hands…

Ooooo Matron…

Yesterday and overnight I fed the battery some more electrons from a rather clever gentle charger, just in case we were unable to give the car its planned exercise today.

Today the sun is out :sunglasses: but we’re tier 4! :exploding_head:

Bad words said.

This Tier 4 thing came from right out of the blue - Isn’t it typical that the sun is out too?!!

Tier 4 should not have been announced ahead of time, it should have been announced with immediate effect and there should have been road blocks and check points. We are just wasting our time letting millions of people abandon the ship before locking it down.

Been experiencing heavy condensation so gave the drain holes a good poke around. That might have been the problem :grimacing:

Followed up with some hot water to make sure both side we’re running free. Not so simple with my washer pump though - see other thread for request of help!
