What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Fitted a new set of mats. Plus gave the roof two coats of black Renovo soft top reviver. Next job is to apply the ultra proofer when it’s dry.

Fitted my New AutoExe…wipers

De-chromed the rear deck panels and bolts… another addition to my black and red theme…. (Must put the rattle cans away…)

What size bit is required for the deck bolts, please? I have been meaning to clean/reseal under mine, but haven’t got the right bit…

A hex T40 is what I used.

If you do then it needs to be gloss black. Mhy first MX-5, a Mk1 in classic red had the surround sprayed matt black by a previous owner. It made the car look very dull and bland with the hood up. I ended up spraying it silver.

On the other hand the gloss black surround on my current Soul Red ND looks great.

Such a good looking car! Makes me want to buy a newer version than my 2.5 :grimacing:

Washed and treated it to my newly acquired Turtlewax Seal 'n Shine.

Rather pleased with results, see how long the beading lasts.

Tried to fix my drivers windows from rattling, thanks to a piece of curtain wire. I think it worked

9 days later… I drove it a bit more

Getting close to the milestone

No pictures yet but, had the satisfaction of starting to get the clay bar and polish on 496 (new name for my 20th anniversary)
I’m having some paintwork done on the car in a couple of weeks, gave me the chance to spot a few more areas that need touching up.

My 2022 RF didnt come with a jack; but it did come with the fancy cubby hole in the boot. (Strange people the Mazda folk!). So I bought a jack on Ebay and waited for it to arrive here in Austria. Ebay’s method of letting me pay them for the customs charges worked this time, and it arrived in about two weeks! When I went to install the jack I found that the retaining bolt, while it worked without the jack in place, would not engage in the tapped hole with the jack. I looked hard at the bolt and discovered that the lower threads are a bit worn – not fatally so, and Ebay want 15 quid for a new one (plus shipping, customs duty and VAT)… So today I sprayed some Ballistol Universal Oil on the end of the bolt. This did the trick and it located easily. I hope Murphy was watching and will make sure that my preparation for having a puncture was unnecessary…

Raised the driver seat by about 1in on my RF on the weekend.
Was hoping to raise it higher but one of the 4 bolts won’t come off (see my other thread - I have since ordered a set of rounded bolt removers).
Used some M10 50mm Partly thread 1.25mm fine thread bolts (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163379375631?var=462688608372) and a stack of washers (FORM A FLAT WASHERS TO FIT METRIC BOLTS & SCREWS A2 STAINLESS STEEL M1.6 - M30 | eBay) wrapped in gorilla tape for ease of fitting.

Hopefully, once the bolt remover arrives, I will remove the 4th bolt and raise the seat by another 10-15mm

Note that I had originally purchased some bolts and spacers from Wickes - but the bolts were 1.5mm thread pitch - but I needed 1.25 thread pitch).

Mine’s at the Mazda dealer for its (don’t laugh) 10 year service and MoT.

A little LED upgrade for the Shark …

Added a new, appropriate sticker to mine :grinning:
