Definitely in residence - not sure what car he is driving - one of his adventures was called ‘The Blue Lotus’ so maybe that’s a clue. Think the MX5 would suit him nicely though he would have to look out getting in and out with that kilt.
Bonnie Prince George/Louis?
I like our local robin BUT desperately need to be allowed some freedom to drive out to nice, hilly countryside once LockDown3 is ended.
It’ll be worth the wait - we hope!
Nice
I love robins.
Where do you live?
It’s not the best picture I’ve taken but it somehow captures the same scene that can be seen on many tourist type websites on Scotland and where to visit etc.
It was our first visit to Scotland and this landmark castle, an overcast day with a small break in the clouds. The shot taken on a very ordinary Android phones camera.
in the Flatlands of East Yorkshire
So why can’t you go where you want?
Haven’t the travel restrictions been lifted in England?
No, it’s still work from home and stay local. The definiton of LOCAL hasnt been specified as it was in Wales. So, we prefer to err on the safe side esp as a friend has died from Covid-19. Some folk seem to think it’s all over and go out for the day (as overnight stays for leisure are not allowed) and so one could, technicaly, do a 180 mile run in a day BUT to us, that isn’t staying local…
The next stage of easing could be May 17th
A lot of the holiday cottages have re-opened down here and we have holiday makers from the Midlands and London all over the place. A quick drive past our local sea front showed large groups coming out of pubs in close contact with each other without masks, an open air restaurant was crammed full…so each to their own but I don’t feel guilty about a day trip out (first since it all began) where we took our own food and drinks and came into contact with no-one!
That’s fantastic!
Awesome shot…
Thanks We have an otter sanctuary not far from us, took quite a few photos to get that one, the rest were naff! They also have a butterfly farm on site but that’s currently closed due to covid, it doesn’t lend itself to social distancing. I’ll have to have a dig around and find some older shots from there, the difficulty is trying to keep the lens from misting up cos it’s so humid!
Having been a camera geek for many decades and now, gradually, coming back into it I must say that Im intreiged. We could start a thread about mirrorless cameras - what the heck are they and how they work? Maybe I should ask that of a search engine like DuckDuckGo rather than on here!!!
DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras are just like the original film SLR cameras but have a digital sensor instead of the photographic film. SLRs use the mirror to project the view to the (optical) viewfinder. This mirror has to flip up as the shutter operates and so allows the light to get to the film.
Mirrorless camera are just that. They still externally resemble a DSLR, but crucially the image from the sensor itself is displayed on a tiny electronic display in the viewfinder. There is no mirror mechanism required. Remove the lens and all you see is the sensor. Perhaps surprising it’s taken so long for them to become common. Removing the mirror and pentaprism removes a large number of components and allows a reduction in size and weight.

I think one reason Mirrorless SLR have taken years to compete with conventional DSLR is that until the emergence of OLED technology, the optical viewfinder has been better especially in low light conditions where LCD/LED display backlighting is a pain…
The current Canon R models look interesting, but at the moment they are too expensive for me to consider as replacements for the 50D and 7DII bodies I have already.
