When one considers the inflation since then is somewhere between x20 and x30 times, those prices are very expensive if compared with what one might pay for a device doing a similar basic function today.
For a while we used to reckon a colour TV held its price at between £250 and £450 from as early as 1970 depending on screen size and poshness of its “cabinet” (plastic box or wood-effect with legs). None were particularly good, not even the “best”!
As TVs become bigger and better and their mass-market components cheaper, and inflation still pushes general retail price figures up, so the basic colour TVs are still around £250-450 even now, maybe fifty years later.
I got married in 1976, we couldn’t afford a washing machine straight off, nor fitted carpet, someone gave us an old TV. When you look at the prices of washing machines then🥺
Sadly not. My wife got it on the internet for £9.99. You can get NA, NB and NC versions too. If you try ETSY MX-5 you will find loads of stuff.
