Hi all
Cleaning up the engine bay today and took off the fusebox cover for a nose. All looks fine, clean and bone dry, however one of the plugs was covered in a greasy brown goo. I unplugged it and the other side has all the terminals filled with a white goo, similar in appearance to decorators caulk before it has set. The plughole is the same.
Everything electrical works perfectly on this car but this gooey stuff is a bit concerning, can anyone identify it? Pics below:

Ahh so it appears to be dielectric grease ![]()
Never heard of it before.
Hi
Have a look at this link from across the pond: - https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=525571
Richard.
Just happened to be talking about this at a car show today and each mk3 is the same, grease.
I asked the same question a couple of years back when I found the same discouloration in my 3.5 fuse box. The answer I got was " its normal, they are all like that "
I can’t find my original post or I would put up the link. Seems it’s some sort of grease to reduce oxidisation I think.
Check out this website for lots of uses for silicone grease -
