Depends on the wattage of the wireless charger and maximaum cap your phone has for wireless charging, which I think is 9 watts for Samsung Galaxy devices. Fast wired chargers are around 18 watts so in theory twice as fast, maybe a bit more - so to wirelessly charge it from empty would take around 2.5 hours but maybe an hour or so to fast charge over a wire.
But faster charging, whilst convenient in a pinch, is less kind to your battery in the long term and will ultimately reduce its lifespan. Slower charging is always preferable for overall battery longevity.
My phone is charged overnight and usually lasts all day, but now I am using Andoid Auto I have noticed an additional power drain (ending the day with typically 25% remaining charge as opposed to previously still having around 40%) so having the option to charge it during longer trips is my plan.
I find that a charger only really needs to have enough power to stop the phone running down if you’re using it for navigation etc. On another car I have a wireless charger that’s connected to a USB socket on the back of the radio. That must be about the least charging power you could have and sure enough on a long drive using satnav the phone battery will actually have dropped while on charge! I’m swapping that power source for something with a little more go. Doesn’t need to be the greatest thing, just enough to keep the battery topped up rather than declining.
One other thing worth mentioning, with summer on the way, is the combo of fast charging and sunshine is not always a happy one: Using fast wired charging and with my phone holder in direct sunlight I found it got into a cycle where every ten seconds or so it would stop and bleep and tell me it was pausing charging as the phone was too hot. Not good when I was using it to navigate an unfamiliar city. I had to pull the charge lead to regain control. Maybe worth bearing in mind.
I have a 2.5, I did not like the old phone holder, the dash really does not lend itself to anything stick and when in france an easy fine, So I bought an flea bay special that slots into the cd holder, I do like blocking the vents lol, works great, let us know what choice you make
