what polish

was wondering what polish/wax you guys us on your 5s

Auto Glym mostly. Meguires also have a range of good quality products. I think it’s generally a case of what you’ve previously used and had satisfactory results with. Must say I’m not a show guy and the car is a daily driver, so I’ve been using Auto Glyms wet wax system, spray on whilst car still wet and wipe dry. Keeps the car looking reasonably clean and is relatively quick to use.

Jeff.

Previously I’ve always used Mer, easy to apply easy to remove nice shine and lasts well

It depends what you want to achieve polish wise in relation to defect removal, personally with the majority of mazda’s having soft paint then even a finishing polish such as Menzerna 85RD/RE/RU.

In relation to wax, sealants and coatings then that is a minefield in itself, wax wise it will look a bit richer and warmer, sealants give that durability, and extra gloss where as the coatings tend to darken, last the longest although the longest and most picky in application. I have used wax on mine and found it lacking (True Red) a little, then swapped out to Zaino which looked stunning and finally Exo Version 2 hybrid coating. Ultimately again it depends on what you want to achieve.

Bilt Hamber auto balm.  It takes an age to apply since you only do about 18 inch square at a time.  But the shine is amazing and lasts for months.

They also do a range of cavity waxes and rust treatments which are very very good.

I tend to apply anything that goes on and comes off easily, i.e. currently using SRP x1  , BriteMax Vantage Wax x2 and Sonax Xtreme Brilliant detailer in between waxes.

I’ve been using Mer for years. Does a reasonable job of cleaning and protecting in one. But last summer I decided to try Armorall Shield after reading a good report from Auto Express magazine. This stuff has to be the easiest product to apply I’ve ever used. Makes the Mer look positively painstaking. When I first put it on then buff it off, the finish looks a bit patchy. But come back in half an hour and it looks fantastic. The water beading lasts an incredible length of time too. I really don’t like polishing and waxing the car, but this stuff makes it easy.

Having used all sorts I must admit to being suitably impressed at the Auto Finesse range, Had a 3rd place at Waxstock 2013 with mostly their products used.

Car looks stunning Ian

But wow just checked the price of the auto finesse range , better start saving

I bought some wax from Aldi. I’m not sure if I wasn’t putting the effort in but aft a few washes and try’s I gave up, rubbish finish. I bit the bullet and bought some armourall shield wax. Went on so easily and gave a good shine. Apparently lasts a while as well. I also bought some wonder wheel super alloy cleaner which was also very easy to put on with a very good finish. (Halfords 3 for 1 deal) .

I’ve purchased the auto finesse soul was and tough coat sealant.

Wow what a product it ain’t cheap but it’s so easy to apply and even easier to buff off .

Hi,

I use Greased Lightening Showroom Shine after washing the car to remove the dirt etc., [not that I take the MX out when it’s mucky] NOT using it as a cleaner and polish without water as promoted on the container.

As a polish it does exactly as it states, a showroom shine and it doesn’t leave a chalky residue.

On Amazon you can get 2 x 1 Litre bottles for about £25.00p; that will keep you in polish for ages; there is also other car cleaning products by GL but I have not used any other than the polish so I cannot comment on those.

Last weekend I used Turtle Wax colour magic for my car to bring out the faded paint I was pretty impressed with the results. Comes with a chipstick for small stone chips and scratches. Best I have used so far and seams better than T-Cut but its been a while since I used T-Cut.

Mer is easy & quite good. (wouldn’t mind a finish like speedy Ian’s though)

I agree the finish is amazing… Mine unfortunatly lives outside and I have to travel along some horrid pothole ridden gravel lanes, the dust in summer is almost as bad as the muck in winter so my polishing efforts last little more than a week! Being BRG the dust shows up quickly :-(.

The finish Joe is a culmination of many many hours work by a professional detailer using the best products and years of experience, not something you can achieve easily on an every day car.

I’m a real fan of the Merzerna polishes although have now discovered the Gtechniq P1 polish which is brilliant and easy to work with!

Just yesterday I machine polished my 5 with Merzerna intensive polish on a medium cutting pad, followed by Gtechniq P1 on a low cutting cutting pad, sealed with CG wet mirror finish and waxed with Collonite 845-the flake now really pops and the dealers holograms all over the car are now gone!

Poor boys Nattys blue paste wax is also extremely good for the money on grey/black cars…

I use Autobrite directs products and wouldn’t go elsewhere

I’d recommend
Superfoam/magifoam (snow foam pre wash)
Purple velvet (gloss shampoo)
Cherry glaze (all in one polish) superb stuff
Project 32 (high gloss sealant)

dodo Juice super natural or chemical guys 50/50 for me.
