What’s your instrument?

You mentioned that even drummers are allowed, they can only count to four

I’m glad you got on with Paul because I have seen him in so many vids and he always looks approachable.
I bought a PRS in 94 in LA and took it to the NAAM show for him to sign. I was told he was in a meeting but wouldn’t be long and if I waited outside the booth he would sign it for me.
I could hear voices having an argument behind a flimsy door and when he came out he was not a happy man. He signed it but had no interest in the guitar or me…shame because he is a brilliant mind when it comes to guitars.
You have some nice guitars! Put the 70’s one back together it is worth something!

Mine absolutely look black, I bought it as Bowden Green and under close inspection it is dark green. They punch way above their price.

My wife reckons it plays so nicely and it was spot on straight out the case, do you ever watch Chris Buck on YouTube, he’s loves his Revstars, Yamaha built one to his spec.

Yes mine was the same. Very well set up and those P90’s are great sounding, they got those spot on. I love Chris Buck! A monster player and I subscribe to his channel.

I love the two Olympic white Fenders…a great colour. The red Strat is different with that trem but I bet it stays in tune.
I love the sound of Jazzmasters…have you heard of Nels Cline? He plays one in a band called Wilco…check out the guitar solo and tone!

That’s has a lovely tone and the song has some nice intertwining guitars in the background.
The trem on the Strat is a Kahler Spyder and it does stay in tune, unfortunately you can’t get any spares for them now. We didn’t know anything about the guitar until last year when my wife googled it and found one on eBay for £1600 :flushed:. The guy had written a short history on the guitar, saying that they were assembled at the Japanese factory then shipped to Kahler in the States as they only fit them to guitars themselves, once finished they were shipped to the U.K. and only sold over here. Don’t know if it’s true but it’s a good story.

That looks very nice, I do like a hollow body guitar. We have just finished watching the Beatles documentary on Disney+ where Lennon had his Epiphone Casino which he took home every night and called it his favourite guitar. Do you play in a band or just for pleasure?

Fascinating! I have seen one way back, my pals owned a Music shop and they were Fender dealers, and I used to help out just for fun. They were to compete with the 80’s craze for Floyd rose equipped guitars.

A nice investment and a cool looking instrument!

I had one of those very guitars but in brown sunburst. I stripped it to natural and it’s one of a few guitars I wish I still had. Great instruments.
Enjoy in good health.

Very nice replica Les Paul…

This is my Gibson (an 02 Standard), which I’ve had just over 20-years.

And this, from a gig in 2015 (last gig was in 2016)

This is Shirley’s which she purchased from the ‘music’ shop in Filey. The kind proprietor offered her some free lessons and was completely bamboozled when she told him is was to be purely ornamental!!!

However I did obtain a ‘how to play the guitar’ book from the charity shop but my rendition of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ left a lot to be desired so I decided against pursuing a career in classical music!

Sorry to have lowered the tone of the thread.

Very nice guitar mate!
I’m sure you miss playing out as I do but humping the gear around for 2-3 gigs a week just got too hard! Age is a terrible thing.
Have fun.

Not lowering the tone at all mate!
One day you are going to pick it up and there will be no going back…you will be searching Youtube for lessons and gigging a month later.

Thanks, there may well be better Les Pauls out there, but it will have to be prised out of my cold dead hands before it goes anywhere.

As for playing out, I do miss it. We lost our drummer to cancer (we think, he never really let on) in 2016. He was a great character and we couldn’t find a replacement that was a good fit, so the band stopped.

Did have a different option under development at the end of 2019, but then a certain pandemic happened etc… On the other hand my neighbour is a good friend (even though he plays bass) and another is a drummer. Really need to sort something out.

And yes, none of us are getting any younger. Can only hope that continues as in general it’s better than the alternative.

Wadja mean, we keep the groove going.

You’re right, and in any case he played in our band for a few years but decided to leave to play some different stuff. We were blues/classic rock, he want to have a crack at post-punk 70’s/80’s stuff. All good, totally amicable split.
