What to ask for

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __2008 NC
  2. I’m based near: __Stowmarket
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on:

Dear all,

I’ve noticed in recent days that water is collecting inside the engine bay - n/s rear corner as per photo. Looking above, there is a rubber seal that runs across the back of where the bonnet sits. I look to be missing one of the clips that hold the rubber seal to the bodywork. Best described shape wise as the sort of thing on a boat that rope gets wrapped around. Any info as to what these are called before I embarrass myself trying to order one from either Mazda or elsewhere would be much appreciated. Anyone needed to buy any in the past? Apologies for state of engine bay.

PS: Does anyone else think the Haynes manual for the NC is poor?

I don’t know what they are called (clips) but I’ve had two NC’s and both of them leak water there, don’t worry about it it’s not doing any harm.

Are these the little clips you are looking for?

Just a note, try measuring these below for size with an existing clip.

Many thanks

Or these as in that eBay listing

Thank you, Mick. I will have a punt on these. Would cost me more in fuel to go to the nearest Mazda dealer!

Shape wise, those clips are the ones.
The long slender section at the top goes inside the rubber seal. You have to stretch the seal to get them in, be careful that the seal doesn’t spilt when you stretch it.
