What to put in gauge pods

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2007 NC 2.O
  2. I’m based near: Leics
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Gauges and sensors

I fitted a moulded gauge pod into my car earlier on this year. Due to medical reasons I wasn’t able to further the project as needed Cardiac Surgery.
I had my surgery in Aug ( 3x Heart By-pass, Aortic Auenurism Repair and new Valve !)
Now feeling much better and ready to do a few jobs.

I have 2 x 52mm slots to fill. My initial idea was for a Oil Pressure and Water Temp Gauge. However I have seen these as combined gauges. If i go for a combined gauge i might put an analogue clock in the other.
I want analogue indications too, not bright LED/LCD digital.

Idea’s ? And are the sensor pick-ups easy to tap into.

Oil temperature is always good to know

Yes I did consider that too, but figured that the Oil temp should be almost the same as the water temp once the whole block has heat soaked for a while ?

Oil Temp/Oil pressure in one, water temp in the other…

I have Prosport 52mm fitted in my hand made gauge pod Oil temp Oil pressure

4 colours Red ,Blue, White. Green Umbilical wiring from one gauge to another warning Beeps and other features … a little expensive but Nice…

Personally I think a rust detection gauge is likely to be most use (certainly it would be on a NB…)

However there are also these gauges from duratecnc.co.uk, which look like a very neat solution and something I’d quite like in my NBFL, where the factory gauges re likewise fake.

Thank you for the comments. I have got a busy month ahead so this will be a new year project now. I am erring toward combined Oil Temp & Px, with sepearte Water temp. The Clock would have been nice too however now I have seen the Vent convertor rings I might even put one in there.

I fitted a small digital LED clock with combined Volt meter above the Rear view Mirror a while ago so getting used to glancing at that.

My 2007 car is 14 years old with 99k on the clock so doesn’t get driven hard these days.
