Afternoon all,
Was reconnecting my CTEK after giving her a quick wash and noticed this loose part in the engine bay. Any thoughts what it could be or from? 2009 2.0 NC2.
The second photo looks like the plastic cover that’s on new battery terminals. have you got a photo from the side?
Well it would appear I have misplaced it 
My initial thought was battery related due to the “+ sign”, but don’t see how it could be as there’s no side cut for the positive cables to feed through.
They come on new batteries to stop anything touching the terminals and causing a short. You remove them when fitting the battery and throw them away but it looks like yours may have been left on top of the engine and forgotten
You can see them in this photo although these are red and black.

It looks like the cover that’s used when transporting the battery to prevent any chance of a short circuit. You can dispose of it once the battery has been fitted.
