Don’t forget your front number plate though, has it fallen off?

Hi mate, it’s on there. I photoshopped it out.
Thanks beryl.
How have you found that? They look groovy and I see more about now.
I was reading around the MG4 forum a year or so ago and it seemed a nightmare for issues. Shed loads of them. Rejections a go-go etc. Of course you have fan boys on there too for balance etc, like all forums.
How has yours been. Has it been reliable? Maybe they’ve ironed out early niggles.
Nice car and colour!
Happy Xmas!
Hi, I have had the car since March and have done 8000miles.
Before every drive I turn off Lane Keep ■■■ist and Front Collision Waiver as I live in a semi rural area.
If you are in the habit of indicating your every move then LKA won’t be a problem. If not you get a quiet alarm as you’re too near the white line and a gentle pull from the steering wheel.
The car has not given me one bit of trouble and is an absolute blast to drive.
Acceleration is amazing and really would leave my Mk1 standing at the lights.
My son drove it recently and his comments were that it was like driving a go kart and as he works in America for now when he comes back he said that he wouldn’t be buying an ICE car again.
I can’t speak for all the owners and their quibbles but like all forums it’s always the negatives that seem to get posted and none from all the happy drivers.
Yes, sounds good. With dealerships chasing the ZEV sales to avoid fines, the Trophy spec has been going for a solid £10K off. I know EV’s suffer brutal depreciation, but £10K off surely absorbs some of that.
Yes, that lane kill ■■■istance thing pops very often in owner’s grips.
With forums reporting on issues, I’m in the camp of if a repeated issue crops up, it obviously is one. I recall about 10 years ago ‘not bothering with forums’ and got a car…for it to be a nightmare, with literally ALL of the problems the same ones cropping up on, you guessed it, forums, but I didn’t bother looking beforehand.
I mean, the ND for eg, you’ll have you fan boys, but one could by one now and there IS a probability that the hood could rub the ‘fashion’ hoops (or wear marks develop in the hot spots over the years), there IS a chance the gearbox could go pop, there IS a change the hub carrier bushings could go etc. They’ve cropped up on forums to often for them to be totally disregarded etc.
I think ev’s are getting better and better all the time. Never driven one myself but are very popular and they way to go.
What would you say beryl?? Very droll? Or is that just you?
Really? ![]()
SO popular at the moment that many dealerships are dropping shed loads of ££££ off them to reach ZEV figures, which themselves are part of a current consultation for ‘revision’ as, take away fleet sales, people aren’t buying them in no where near the figures expected.
Moral: Stuff that is really ‘popular’ isn’t normally subject to tax payer funded sweeteners to incentivize someone to buy it; massively reduced prices; possible legislation change on sale figure mandates etc etc.
Edit again: I may have ‘again’ misinterpreted Clay’s post, and he/she might have been joking. Written word and deciphering etc
If so, lol, I agree ![]()

My other car………for 30 minutes!!!
Over 800 bhp
Over £400 k
That’s a lot of mx5’s.
Thanks to a generous car friend sharing his test drive invitation.
Just got the wife a new Mini Cooper 5 door. The new fangled screen thing is going to take some getting used too, its a bit like a Tesla. (There is no dashboard as such)
SWMBO has a new Renault Clio Hybrid. It’s quite nice to drive around town on the battery and has decent toys, like radar cruise, making motorway journeys and start stop traffic a breeze. Pretty decent mpg too, approx 65-70mpg.
Only thing I find weird is, once started, you can’t press the accelerator to rev the engine. Only way to increase engine speed is whilst moving and then pressing accelerator.
Picked up a 15 month oid MG4 Trophy a coiuple of days, and I am very impressed with the car. It’s very quick, comfortabkle and interior quality seems good.
The last time I was this excited about a family type car was 15 years ago, when I collected my Civic Type R. In recent years, I’ve looked at cars available, from ordinary to premium, and nothing has got me excited.
Don’t know what you paid for that as a 15 month older, as granted the depreciation is jaw dropping, but those are going circa 22K new!
I made a joke in an MG dealership last Monday. I pointed at the MG4 in their showroom and said ‘if someone waits another half an hour, will that have been reduced by another 2 grand. Maybe if they come back tomorrow you’ll be giving it away’. The spin he tried thereafter ![]()
I paid 18K, my days of buying new cars are over.
Not sure when you tax runs out, but if it’s not March it’s a good idea to renew it next month so you get maximise the zero tax rate.
I haven’t got an EV. I was only in MG tyre kicking around dealerships while the Mrs’ MINI was getting serviced. I commented to the dealer about the MG4 price crashes/reductions, as for some reason I knew.
Yes, I’m sure a lot of EV owners will do that early tax thing, to beat the new annual rate.
