Wheel Lug Nut Torque

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2016 1.5 SEL ND1__
  2. I’m based near: N Ireland
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: torque settings

Using Torque setting 80 to 108 ft.lb (108 to 147 N.m; 12 to 14 kgs.m) for my 2016 MX5 1.5 SEL ND1 wheel nuts (16” alloy wheel).

I believe these settings are correct but would appreciate confirmation or otherwise if I am right to use these settings?

Perhaps other MX5 owners on this forum are also Mazda converts and may also own a 4th generation Mazda 3.
Forgive me if I stray from the real purpose of this forum and at the risk of being scolded for my cheek but can anyone help with our 2022 Mazda 3 2.0 Sport Lux SkyActiv X (18” alloy wheel)lug nut torque settings?

My 2016 Mazda3 with 5stud 16" alloys has exactly the same torque specification as you list.

I set my torque wrench to 90 ft lb

Wasn’t hopeful for a reply re our Mazda3. Think that 18" Alloy wheel with 5 lug nuts might need more torque than my ND1. Thanks for your reply appreciate it.

Thanks BlueAgave, gives me confidence that my 95 ft.lb setting does the trick.

That generation Mazda 3 is listed at 108-147 Nm / 80-108 ft-lb.

So exactly the same as your ND. Hope that helps.

Just look it up in the hand book, there is an online version and it will only take a few seconds then you will have the definitive answer.

Thanks Mad Malc. Before posting on the Forum I looked for it on the Owners reference guide provided with the car. Don’t know why, but it isn’t covered in the Owners reference guide provided.

Found the Online Owners Manual, and there it is Page 585 Section 7-42 of the Online User Manual !!!

Thanks Wardy 5 for your help and sorry Blue Agave for doubting you

Also using 120Nm on my ND1 and they seem happy, road and track.

Value is higher than the same size stud on earlier NA/NB cars due to higher material grade.
