Anyone tried these (or similar) and are they any good?
They look a bit tacky to me but I suppose I’ll wish I’d had some when eventually I hit a kerb…
Never bought them, but a mate did. They look tacky, one flew off damaging his wing and he still was able to score the wheels regardless. Basically, they failed on ever point !!
Fitting these tell s everyone you’re not s very good driver, I wouldn’t use them.
yes tacky, very tacky!
My Dad has had these fitted to his NB. They have been on for years with no issues with them coming off.
Not sure if I would have put them on but each to their own.
I would avoid these like the Plague. When I worked for Mercedes, these were sold and fitted and even a gentle tap on the kerb can loosen them and you may not have noticed.
At high speeds, they can come off and damage the wing. I had some fitted to my demo and my Mrs was driving and one came off making a loud bang and she nearly hit the central reservation with the shock. I never sold them and NEVER suggested them to customers.
The glue also degrades over time. AVOID
Isn’t this what the rim protector on tyres is for? Just get tyres with a nice solid band covering the rim. I’d have to drive really really badly to get beyond mine!
Probably I think it’s just best to be careful with your car.
An alloy can only be skimmed twice before it looses its integrity. The rim protection was designed to help avoid this but seriously, I would never recommend them. One alloy on an MB GT cost £3000 so you can see why these rim protectors came out. Most of my customers who purchased a GT could easily afford a new wheel or a couple of skims but telling them to be careful was far better than selling imo, a dangerous product.
