After having the geometry checked and adjusted (toe in slightly out on the front) I am even happier with my Mk1 1.8. Getting the tyre pressures right has helped (32 psi on taking delivery), but I am still not impressed by the P6000s, despite having plenty of tread.
I have what I think are the TSW Stealth 14inch wheels.

The tyre options for 14 inch wheels seem limited. I fancy Eagle 1s. So I am looking at a set of 15s, but am concerned about weight.
Recommendations?
P6000s seem to get fairly poor reviews generally.
There’s a thread here with some wheel weights http://staging.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/245.aspx, and I found this page useful too: http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html. There was also a much longer list on the old forum.
My Mk1 is on 14" wheels at the moment, but for the same reason you mention I’ve bought a set of standard Mazda fit 5 spoke 15x6" wheels ffrom a '97 Mk1 (they’re the Enkei ones in that second list).
I was a little concerned by the weight, but I don’t want to spend a fortune on wheels - got mine for £100 which suited my budget. They need new tyres so I’ve not fitted them yet, but the weight with a barely legal Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 is 13.1kg. I’m interested to get the 14" off to compare. According to the list, the wheels should be around 1-2kg lighter, but I don’t know how the tyre weights compare.
Yes I found the weight information links you posted. The miata.net one is particularly comprehensive. I would like to keep the car looking fairly standard, but certainly don’t want to go for anything heavier. Cost is a consideration though. Too many two-wheeled toys to keep running.
The Enkei ones look a good choice. Guess I’ll keep trawling Ebay.
Thanks Geoff. I had found them already, but there is nothing like personal recommendation from somebody who has tried something not on the list.
I’m torn between appearance and function. I would really like some very light, sparsely spoked, wheels, but I can’t really justify the cost given what I paid for the car, and I fancy keeping it very standard looking (if not standard performing).
