Hi guys and girls. Does anyone have any idea if these wheels would fit my NA 92 Eunos. They are XXr 357 minilites 4x100 and 4x108. With a tyre size of 195/45 r16 and my originals are the daisy wheels
You mean XXR 537.
The multi-fitment studs looks pretty awful with the Minilite design.
But, they will fit. With an offset of 20mm, they will stick out more, and you pobably will have rubbing issues.
The 16" version is extremely heavy at over 22lbs each; your daisys are under 12lbs. If the car is lowered, that translated to a rotten ride, tramlining and probably premature wear of suspension parts (those -35mm springs become -55mm, and you are riding on the bumpstops).
Oh are they really that heavy! Could you recommend me a good wheel for the mk1 at all, as I don’t want to add that much weight or that increase in wear. Thank you for your help.
For a Mk1, I would go no bigger diameter than 15"; most of them won’t weight more than 15".
If you like the Minilite style, there is the Rota RB
They come in two widths; 8" and 7". Personally, with a 195/50 15 tyre, I’d prefer 7". However, Rotas in silver and 7" often seem hard to come by in the UK. The shortage of which lead me to the Swiss Maxilite wheel, which is a slightly different style (essentially, RBs are copies of the Panasport wheel, with the fat “banana” spoke, others stick to the original thinner Minilite style). These only come in silver (well, more like a metallic grey, which I quite liked, less blingy), and 7" width.
There is a UK supplier:
I note they are using photographs of mine without my permission. Interestingly, they are now available in two offsets, 35 and 30mm. Previously only in 35mm, which wouldn’t clear the front calipers, so I fitted 5mm spacers. I guess Maxilite has thickened the mounting pad.
I got them from an Italian Alfa supplier, for a very good price; a bit less than the RB
There is also the Rota RKR, which I think is nicer looking than the RB, more inline with Watanabe’s interpretation. However, RB lost their mind, and only offer these with insane offsets, thereby only appealing to a narrow market.
Rota and Maxilite aren’t particularly light, but they ain’t heavy either. The Minilite design, un less you go to an exotic Magnesium alloy, tends to be heavy, but very strong. Maxilites come in at 6.8kg, which is ok, its a bit lighter than the Panasports Mazda fitted to the M2-1001
Maxilites on a S-Limited I used to have
I think these looked almost perfect at effectively 30mm offset. The only change I would make, and this applies to the Rota RBs as well, is that the manufacturer paint the entire wheel. Instead, they have a polished rim, with lacquer. For all of these wheels at this price point, the lacquer lasts 3-4 years then it starts lifting.
Might be something in te small ads.
That’s awesome cheers for that I will definitely look into buying those within the month. Thank you
