Where can I buy a new keyfob/transmitter for my NC?

Hey all, I’m also part of the Dutch MX-5 owners club but they hardly ever post so here I am.

When I got my 2006 NC it came with an old, aftermarket transmitter which didn’t work on my car. I tried changing the batteries but it’s super corroded on the inside and I think it’s done for. I really want to just buy a new one but I can’t find a single place online that sells them in Europe, I’ve looked loads of times over the past 2 months and I can’t find anything. If someone can help me out with sourcing one or point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

Ali Express is your friend.

I purchased one and it worked perfectly.
Please note you will need the RFID chip off the old fob, but the electronics on the new key work fine.
You program by using the ignition and opening and closing the drivers door in a set sequence, just check on you tube or google.

Unfortunately my old keyfob is totally broken so I’m unsure if that will work.

Hi,
Unless you have a working coded key to transfer from wouldn’t the only other place you could go to for a replacement be mazda themselves? Or get a replacement and transfer your cut key to it and have it coded on the car by a specialist?

I was hoping It wouldn’t come down to that because it’d probably be incredibly expensive.

An aftermarket key cutting company did mine, a Timpson kiosk in a supermarket carpark, it was £150 - is there a similar chain in the Netherlands?

Can you start the car with your broken key ?

If yes - then the chip in that key is good and it can be moved across to the new key.

Then you need to teach the car that the new key is allowed to open and close the central locking.
