Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Newhaven harbour wall visit today via Alfriston, Seaford, Dymock Farm shop for some veg and sausages. Had a couple of waves from a black ND, copper coloured NB who was very jolly, an older lady in an NC doing her shopping and had a chat, it was her third, she started with an NA in 1990, saw about 5 others that were gone before I really saw them and something (not Mazda) gorgeous around 70’s vintage with a V8 roar in soft cream on Seaford seafront also got a wave from him.

Also found a bright yellow NA in Newhaven that looked immaculate and was obviously someone’s love… Fantastic day!

We went for a short trip out for a breath of fresh air, lid down hats on, flask in the boot, as we’re not sure how this Covid tier and lockdown system is going to play out, probably gonna get worse before it gets better, but I hope I’m wrong
This was taken just outside Mistley Essex looking towards Harwich.

Top up today in rain, it nearly stopped for the last 3 miles. Top came down as I was rolling into a junction.

Gear change and away, looked in the mirror to see the little droplets flying as the air was lifted over the car in the little rain that tried to catch us.

Is Mistley still in tier 2? Wish we were, in Morley, West Yorkshire, 76 per 100,000 here but doesn’t seem to matter  still Tier 3. Oh well, as long as everyone stays safe :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

I’m afraid it’s tier4 where we are had to cancel family coming for Christmas Day yesterday. Very upsetting for us both. Let’s all hope things get better by the spring.

Still tier 2 in Tendring area … at the moment , hopefully if people are sensible things will improve for everyone :crossed_fingers: , this is probably the worst time of the year for things to go wrong :family_man_woman_girl_boy: , so we get out for a local spin while we can .

Same place as yesterday, and the day before that and the day before that.

Abso-****ing-lutely nowhere.

Window visit booked with my Mum at the care home on Christmas Eve so fingers crossed there’s enough left in the battery by then.

Took the wife to Bridgenorth in Shropshire yesterday for her 1st ride in the MX5. I kept it civilised enough on the way there as she thinks its a death trap with no abs, airbags etc

On the way back she was really warming to the little mx5 and we were planning weekends away in it etc…so with this change in attitude I decided to get the back end out a little exiting roundabouts to show her its playful nature

This she did not appreciate at 1st to say the least, but by the time we got back after a few more ‘slides’ she was really enjoying it

Great day out lots of laughs and hardly any speed limits broke! I’m really warming to this little mazda…

But no chance today :disappointed:

Had a 20 mile trip to collect our Christmas Turkey from a farm shop and my wife had taken the sensible car to work so the '5 it was. All sorts of precipitation ranging from heavy drizzle through to full-on heavy splatter on the trip, water sheeting across the roads and major puddles everywhere.
First time I’ve been out in weather like this since I got the car in August. Didn’t even consider taking the longer twisty way back. A totally joyless ride.

Zoom Zoom Splash!

Ironically it appears to be brightening up now despite the forecast predicting more heavy rain.
Only upside is the interior of the car is still dry so it looks like I’ve got no leaks.

Quick blast up the A12 and back in sunshine on dry roads to keep the battery charged.

First time we’ve seen the sun for a while in Weymouth, but today it was cold and bright. Roads were dry after a windy night, so took the mx-5 for a decent top down drive. With heated seats switched on, hat and a scarf I hardly noticed the cold…great fun.

Out to knock on doors and say happy Christmas to a few old ladies who can’t get out, fed a homeless guy and got him some soup and a blanket. Good deeds. Cold, but top down always. Happy Christmas.

My last post was tempting fate and Lady Fortuna has responded :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Nothing after the outing but torrential rain again last night and soggy passenger side footwell this morning. Looks like I’ll be sealing my scuttle grommets in the very near future.
It would make a change from flaking out in front in the telly after too much turkey, anyway.

Went for a window visit with my 91 year old Mum at the care home. First time I’ve seen her in a couple of months. Standing outside and talking to her through the window it started snowing. Anyone would think it was Christmas.

Then went to look at a Qashqai to replace our Juke. Just a forecourt viewing with no salesman bugging us. One of the positives of Covid.

Pevensey beach to beachy head and Birling gap , back via Seaford, Alfriston, Wilmington, Arlington and a bit of drift around a roundabout. Oh yes! Waved to about 5 or 6 other 5s!

Quick Boxing Day blast over Rivington Pike and round Winter Hill. No rain but lots of puddles, roof down all the way.
Quite a few cyclists about with new bikes and lycra…

Backed it out of the garage, apart from the MOT in June it hasn’t really moved since September last year (14 months), so that i could isolate the water mains and fit a new central heating diverter valve, 3 hours later it went back in the garage and hooked back on to the conditioning charger before storm Bella hit.
I doubt it has done 200 miles this year!
