Where to mount the Sat nav? on MX5 NC Mk3.5

TOTOM Go Live 1005 H D T & M - Europe

Purchased one of the above , it arrived PM yesterday.

I havn’t been out to Cariad yet as I’m still in my pyjamas while typing this. So haven’t assessed the possible mounting positions available.

The SN came with a magnetic mount with the traditional suction pad for fixing it to windscreen/ dashboard /etc /etc.

The suction cup is 90mm from the front face of the Sat nav.

So! you experienced sat nav users, the question is-- Where to mount & where not to mount new Sat Nav + pros & cons ?

Any advice please?

Hi Gales, stick it low on the glass under the rear view mirror angled slightly downwards. That way you and navigator can see and hear it easily. Always take it and the cable off when parked and wipe the glass to remove the tell tale circle mark the sucker leaves. My lad had his side window smashed and the satnav taken from the glove locker after not wiping the screen, it’s so obvious to the scrotes.

Agreed with Rich M, mount it centre screen and as low as possible.

That way its easy for driver and navigator to see and navigator can reach to input post codes, destinations, waypoints etc, with minimum obscuring of forward vision.

I avoid the possibility of the windscreen mark and use a bean bag/friction mount, it works fine on the road unless your really give it some beans around the bends.

Many thanks for all the advice, I had a bean bag FM so I tried that, and went for a 10 mile trial run. Perfect it didn’t move at all.
However, I had the roof open & the reflections were terrible I couldn’t see the screen info at times, all I could see was my SWMBO’s checkered blouse, It was either painting her blouse mat black or ordering some anti reflect film for the SN, delivery tomorrow,I hope it will do the job.

Gales

My car has a black plastic disc stuck on the centre of the dashboard, courtesy of the previous owner. The suction cup attaches to this disc. This works well.
I use my phone as the satnav so I never leave it in the car.

Hi there, the black disc is a good idea on top of the dash, but be WARNED, do not stick this disc to the windscreen, I recently bought my mx. And it had the black disc stuck on the windscreen , this is a MOT failure, lucky enough I managed to remove it with a very thin craft knife and lots of screen wash, and lots of time. You have all been warned, All the best, Steve
