Which brake bleeding kit for the ND?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2.0 ND2 RF
  2. I’m based near: Hampshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Which brake bleeding kit for the ND?

Does anyone know which brake bleeding kits work well with the ND2? I was hoping to get one that seals onto and pressurises the reservoir and pushes the fluid in. As long as I’ve been able to get a good seal, these have worked well for me in the past on other cars.

I’ve had mixed success using kits that suck the fluid out… have other people found these successful on an ND?

I’m completely changing the fluid. Should I start with the corner furthest from the reservoir and work my towards the nearest?

The Gunson ( Car Bike Brake Clutch Bleeding Kit Automatic Bleeder Gunson Eezibleed Easy Bleed | eBay ) do not work on the ND as the cap is NOT a screw on type so will not seal.
They do sell a clamp on cap or you could try cable ties but on both our NDs I used the old fashioned two handed method.
I have contemplated buying one of these Brake Master Cylinder Cap, MX5 Mk4 (mx5parts.co.uk) and drilling it for the Ezibleed system.

PS Never put fluid in the Ezibleed always use it dry. The inconvenience of disconnecting to fill the master cylinder far outweighs the consequences of brake fluid being sprayed around the engine bay. No prizes for guessing why I know this!!!

Thanks Malc. What do you mean by the two handed method? One person pumping the pedal, and one opening and closing the bleed nipples? Or something else?

Never over tighten the brake fluid cap on any vehicle. Only needs to be nipped up on mx5.

Exactly as you say.

I think you may be misunderstanding how the Ezibleed works. You have to have a seal around the master cylinder so it needs a firm twist so that it will take at least 20psi without leaking.
