Which Brake Fluid for Trackdays

Hi All,

Just finished up at Bedford GT today and had great fun. Sticking to 15min sessions was great however the pedal was getting long towards the end of the day. Pads were nearly new Roddisons front and rear, and fluid is RBF 600 flushed through when the pads were installed. Had tuition on the day and no comments were made on braking too long/light on the pedal which i did have issues with when learning to drive.

Which fluid have other people used successfully or am I just hitting the limit of the brakes as I am getting more confident/on a brake heavy circuit?

Car is a daily driver also so needs to be a reasonably sensible solution.

Thanks

Never had a problem with comma  DOT 5.1 from our local motor factors. Track day use and racing. BUt a lot depends on how much you brake.

I’m running Motul RBF 600 fluid, minted 1144 front and rear pads and grooved front and rear 250mm discs (1.8 conversion) and Not once did they overheat at Silverstone, and I’m one of the very late heavy brakers.

Two things spring to mind

  1. people are lazy or get board easily and the fluid was not flushed through 100% did you use a more than 1 litre.

  2. One or two calipers have a seized piston which is OK when cooled down.

I would buy a IR thermometer that goes to 500C and go to a quiet country road and try to get your brake fade if possible. At that point go round the car and take readings from each disc.

I reckon one one will be lots higher than the others.
