I’d like to be able to use my phone as a sat nav in my mk2, what phone holders are people using that suit the dash and don’t get in the way of the controls or your vision?
Im a sucker for quad locks kit, have their mounts in my NC/pushbike/motorbike. Completely solid even with the universal phone part on a hefty one plus 7 pro.
On my NC I have it mounted to the windscreen right of the instrument cluster but it can also mount to the dash. It doesn’t get in the way of vision and is easily seen for navigation and has been used for recording (landscape and portrait).
I’ve tried a few sucker type holders and now use one that inserts into the cd slot

I use this vehicle-specific Brodit clip

With this adjustable ‘Passive holder with tilt swivel’ (because I use different devices. If you only use one device, then there will be a device-specific holder for it)

Thanks, do you have any pictures of it fitted?
These show it fitted in my new MX5
but this is a right-hand drive version of the clip which is designed to fit on the left/passenger side of the console - where it doesn’t block your view of the controls - rather than the right as shown here. It only fits on the right because I broke a bit off it when removing from the previous MX5

Thanks, looks good although possibly a bit low for me when looking at the sat nav
In the previous vehicle I had it mounted a bit higher up, so it was level with the radio buttons. I fitted it a bit lower when I put it on the right, so I can still access the radio controls easily. That’s not an issue if you mount it on the left
I like it to be high, not too far out of my eyeline.
This is in a mark3 but the dash won’t be immensely dissimilar I imagine.
The bracket attaches via a sticky gel suction pad with a lever for extra suction. It sticks firmly to the heavily textured dash.
The phone attaches to the bracket magnetically via a supplied very thin steel that is self adhesive to the phone back. It’s thin enough to be unnoticeable.
The make is Olixar and I was so pleased I have another in my BMW
