Which steering wheel lock is best?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __MK2
  2. I’m based near: __Bristol
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Steering wheel locks, so many to choose, any recommendations??

I don’t think any of them are unbeatable, more of a deterent.
If a joy rider sees one, he’ll move on to the next car.
If a professional thief sees one, he’ll have it off in under a minute.

The stoplock gets half decent reviews.

The type like the one pictured above (Stoplock) are easily defeated by cutting a piece out of the steering wheel. Probably take about a minute.
The ones that cover the whole steering wheel are harder to defeat. I have one of those but don’t use it on my MX. The downside is that they are big and heavy.

Yes the Disklok ones are the best IMO - I can’t understand how any device that can be defeated by cutting the wheel rim can come top in magazine comparisons.

Owners of old Land Rovers expect them to be stolen if they are left undefended (ho ho). The most popular device with them is the DIsklok.

I have a pedal lock, it’s the Sentinal clutch claw. I was a landrover owner and like John_M said I wanted a device to deter thieves but on selling the LR I kept the clutch claw as it’s adjustable for most cars. I’ve been very happy with it. Find it on Amazon.

I have Land Rover as well and active on their forum, and exactly as above Stoplock Pro or Disclock. I have an old disclock I use on my 5.

When BMWs were susceptible to being stolen via the OBD port, the solution most often suggested on the forums was the Disclok. I bought one for my M3 and it’s a well put together piece of kit which would be very difficult to bypass.

As mentioned, the problem with almost all of the bars which go through the wheel is that the lowlifes will just cut a chunk out of the steering wheel itself.
