No need for a torque wrench to remove a wheel, only when tightening.
Halfords are good.

Extendable wheel wrench

Extend when undoing a wheel nut. Comes with two ended socket to suit pretty much any wheel nut/bolt.

You ONLY use a torque wrench for final tightening, never for loosening.

I didn’t know that… but do now, I have just read up a bit more about why you shouldn’t.

That was a helpful comment :+1:

Aldi’s had an clicky type torque wrench that’s ideal for wheel bolt type sizes for £17. Apparently it’s accurate, and as a bonus there’s no battery’s to go flat.
I maybe wouldn’t use it for engine building but it’s fine for what you want it for.

I have had my ‘ clicky’ torque wrench about 40 years.as it is only used occasionally I would not consider an electronic one, I am sure it would be flat just when I needed it:joy::joy:.
As a tip if you have a ‘ clicky’ one, always store it set to zero, ie no tension on it to ensure it does not weaken.

I’ve had mine for 43! A Norbar, that iirc cost me about a weeks (apprentice) wages.
I did check it’s accuracy a few years ago (vice, bags of sand, scaffold pole) and it was spot on still.

Halfords are allegedly Norbar but rebranded and much cheaper, especially with your club discount.

My Snap-On torque wrench originally belonged to my father, and must be a similar age to yours. Always stored at minimum setting, in its protective case. For some reason he always said to make sure it was never struck by anything on the bottom of the handle. No idea of the reason for this, but I’m always careful with it.
