Hi
As in a topic. Can I use white spirit as a degreaser before putting undercoat ? Will the undercoat grip be OK ?
Of course alloys will be cleaned and sanded before but can I use white spirit to remove dust just before painting ?

You could use white spirit but not turpentine. Turpentine is an oil distillate so isn’t suitable for this purpose. White spirit isn’t ideal either to be honest. Better to go find your nearest motor factors (ask any garage where it is) and buy a 5 ltr tin of degreaser or paint thinners. It’s not expensive and always handy to keep some thinners around as it is superb for cleaning any dirty or grimy items.
I’ll second the advice of Peter-B
Well, this is what I thought but wasn’t sure. Thanks.
You mean something like this (just example) Solent Maintenance Just Orange, Degreaser, Bottle, 1ltr 7272800A | Cromwell Tools
Cellulose thiners or MEK, wipe over sparingly as it melts most paints, so gives a key for next coat. Evaporates very quickly. Motor factors or car repair shop, take a glass jar and blag some! Not plastic it melts it.
Hi. This is the stuff I mean. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Standard-Cellulose-Paint-Thinners-Cleaner/dp/B00991GA6Y
