Who would buy this car?

I see the forum gestapo have removed my post - what tripe.  My point was that what sort of 5 owner would drive his car up onto a kerb?  Certainly not me, but perhaps I’m old fashioned!

Tony

This sort of owner does, if necessary. That seems a minor hazard compared to hitting a pothole at 70, or as I did the other night, a dead deer at 50.

Fair enough.  I’m obviously far too fussy - must be an age thing!

So there’s the danger, make your point clear when you post…!,

Anyway, I can’t see what why parking half way on a footpath would put someone off buying a car ?

Nothing to do with parking on a footpath, more to do with driving over a kerb!  I wouldn’t dream of putting my Tesco trolley Ford Focus up a kerb intentionally and I certainly wouldn’t do it to a 5, unless I didn’t mind the tracking being put out.  The fact that the chap selling the car actually took photos of it so parked would lead me to think he didn’t care too much about such things and would definitely put me off it.  But as I said before, I might be too fussy.

Amen.

Well, at that age it’s had a good innings

My 5 won’t go on kerbs without scrapeage so I avoid like the plague. I must have missed the original deleted post. Seems like I missed a juicy thread.

Well I expect he drove it up a footway crossing where it was level then simpy parked it so as not to obstruct what looks like quite a narrow road.  Something I’m sure we all do, although often carfully to avoid the scrapeage…

Indeed it suggests a high level of care for the car, not wanting to get his wing mirrors knocked off>!

Whatever

I think that was my first deleted post of the new forum. I hope it was educational at least [:D]

Re kerbs: if you have the ground clearance and are driving slowly enough the loads on the suspension are tiny. They biggest worry would be damaging the tyre sidewall - invisible until it goes bang.

LOL!  It was deleted I had put a link to a for sale advertisement on Autotrader.  Not my advert or an advert from anyone I know.I’m not used to this style of forum where one leaves oneself open to this sort of rubbish.  I have fond memories of the old MX-5 Yahoo Mailing List where there was plenty of banter and lightheartedness.  This place, by comparison, feels like a dentist’s waiting room [:)]

Tony

Congratulations! - in these days the reduced “Thread Locking” and “Post Deleting” I’d consider this an acheivement!

I see that the old list is still running Tony[;)]

Thanks for that Geoff. [B]
