Will 17 x 8 ET35 need fender rolling?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC
  2. I’m based near: __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: alloys

Hello,

Ive tried looking for forum posts but im getting mixed answers. I have an NC1 2.0 sport which I plan FIRST to lower on coilovers before I start playing with wheels and tyres.

I really like the look of the Enkei RPF1 but I see that the cheaper brand Japan Racing do a replica called the jr7. When looking at the size specs I see for 17x8 I only get an option of +35 offset.

Stock tires are 205’s but if I plan to put some 215/45/17 on these would I need rolling? Do the front and rear differ in terms of fender clearance.

There is also an option for 17x7.5 ET 42.

Id say those would fit no problem om 215? I like a little stretch but no too much. With the 7.5 i guess I wont get that wee stretch Im looking for who knows.

Whats your opinions on 17 vs 18 alloys too?

The rear is the tightest.

I have had 18" on mine, but I wasn’t impressed.

Hi,I could be told different but I’d say yes you’ll have to roll with them, and adjust camber to get them under, like you say loads of conflicting info out there and Ive seen loads of photos of people running 8j et35,
Just google search the wheel fitment tool and you will see a diagram where that size will sit on your set up from stock and measure your car from that.

I have standard 17 x 7 rims (et55) with 205 tyres. Using 25mm spacers all round (et30 effectively) lowered on Meister club race. No rubbing at all. An extra 25mm on rim width, reduced slightly by the extra 5mm offset you propose, may be too much? Work may be required to prevent conflict between tyre and arch.

Not the best pics to illustrate where the wheels sit but should give an idea. They are right on the edge of the bodywork so still legal.
Mines the silver car.

I believe mine are ET30 with 215 and I needed to roll the rear arches

Try ultralite F1 too, they’re also a copy of RPF1 and available in different fitments.

You will require to do some work to fit the wheels and 215 tyres.

Mot compliant isnt a thing with tyres protruding the arches

Its the Law that care more .

Thanks, just looked them up. They look similar also. I wonder if ultralite are a better brand than Japan Racing ?

They will all be made in the same Chinese factory.

Yep! All be the same thing, the reps. Perfectly ok for the price.
