I found a reasonable priced wind blocker with speakers for sale and I thinking to fit them in the car.
My car has already the Bose speakers and the since the car didn’t come the with the Bose Head Unit, but with a simple HU instead. I bought a Sony DSX A400-BT, which really you can feel the Bose sound much better than before.
I would like to ask if anybody has an experience with this fitment and if it is worth to do add this on the car. I am not expecting anything serious, just an extra sound from behind to support the front side.
However, I think the Ideal solution would be a central speaker on the dashboard, to get the sound from the left hand side, most of the times I am laying on the armrest to get the most of it.
My car is 2003 Roadster SG Special, similar to Nevada edition.
Consider the style bar with the soundboard too, bigger speakers and in the centre between the seats. I noticed a significant difference after I fitted mine.
I am not having a style bar and probably I will never have one.
Have you retrofit the speakers between the seats? I was thinking to do it, should be better than having the speakers on the sides, but it doesn’t seem an easy job. What model is your car, did you find the wiring in the car?
Well if you don’t want the style bar, I guess you could fabricate something from maybe mdf and mount it between the seats. The Mazda soundboard has two 4" speakers, my car was a 2001 Mk2.5 Sport. The windblocker speakers are smaller, I can’t recall the exact size.
There was no rear speaker wiring, I had to run my own from the back of the headunit and along the underside of the centre console.
If you’re into music I think it’s a worthwhile project to take on.
I am thinking to work on a different project for the rear speakers. I have seen this video, and it seems to be the only like this though. Here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv9MALGAO74
I believe is a better option than the speakers in the windblocker, and cheaper as well.
Has anyone tried something similar?
After a lot of reading, I think I know how to connect the speakers, although I really need your help on this.
I will post all of my queries with the wiring photos in another post, but I want to ask you if a can use a Dropbox or google drive link instead of the Photobucket.
I didn’t find the speakers in the OE windblocker to be much good. Very small & hidden behind the seats anyway. I now have the style bar with a Mazda soundboard fitted & that is much better. The wiring was already there on mine so I guess it was a factory fit on the arctic model.
Have I mentioned that I am very satisfied with Bose’s car sound system? Because the car didn’t come with the OEM unit, I think that the Bose amplifier bypass has already been made, without seeing the amplifier though.
The reason why I want the extra speakers is that I am getting very excited about things like this and also because I would like to get the sound from the middle, otherwise I have to rest on the armrest. As I said I am getting too excited with stuff like this and I am not expecting a decent performance.
As I said earlier I thinking to add two speakers between the seats like this guys on the YouTube video that I have posted before.
My Car is a MK2.5. I have searched for any wiring behind the seats and what I found is a white cable behind the passengers back and a grey cable behind the the driver’s seat both under the carpet.
It seems that the connection is straight forward, a simple connection of LHS and RHS of the speakers to the head unit.
My car has A Bose system but I have received it with an aftermarket head unit which I shave changed it to a Sony DSx A400BT. I am pretty sure that the amplifier by pass connection has already been made
After looking the wiring in my car, which is shown in the link below, it seems that the rear speakers cables are already connected. According to the Sony manual the colours are also the same.
The same colours Green and Purple, that are coming from the car wiring they also mention the destination, Rear Left-Right.
My first question is the following: since the rear speakers cables have been found to the car’s wiring system, how do we know if these cables are hidden somewhere, or where do they go?
And my next question is how do we connect the rear speakers in the current wiring?
I have found this video, where these guys instal rear speakers to A MK1, and the wiring system looks very similar to my mine. If you would like to skip to the 22nd minute of the video, he cuts the green wires and connects the new wires to it.
This looks very simple but is this how you make the connection.
