Windblockers with TR Lane GP bars

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has tried to use a windblocker with a TR Lane roll at all, or any other makes for that matter?

Ive see a few other ones on EBay, BMW, Saab, Mini etc, that I think could be modified to be used with mine, but wanted to check if anyone else had tried first.

Cheers

Tim

I’m not 100% sure what type of TR Lane bar mine is, but I fitted an MX5 windblocker with a few “adjustments” See here

Hi Humbug, cheers for the response - I responded on there.  You have a GPD by the looks of it.

I have the added problem of the extra harness bar which might make the standard windblocker a problem.

Hi Tim - I didn’t make the connection with the username from Nutz - sorry! Not sure, but you may be OK with the harness bar. From the pic you posted on Nutz, it looks like:

a) the harness bar is in line with the main uprights (i.e. not further forward), so should not interefere with the fitting of the windblocker like I did mine.

b) the harness bar is below the height of the top of the seatbelt mounts, so there may be enough room for the folding bit of the windblocker (the “tail” of the J shaped profile) to fit above it. When folded, I guess the folded part might only go down to 90 degrees or so. If you don’t have a windblocker I could measure the height of the tail above the rear deck for you?

c) you may not have the same issue as I did with the folding bit of the windblocker touching the diagonal on the way down, because the 2 angled bars on yours go down at the bottom, and the folded bit is higher in the middle. Anyway, I described my solution to that in the Nutz thread.

Don’t give up on the idea too soon. If I can help with any measurements, etc., let me know.

Cheers,

Simon

Cheers Simon. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for one then!
