Window jammed down when replacing window

  1. My model of MX-5 is: mx5nd 2017
  2. I’m based near: manchester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: window regulator repair.

The passenger side window stopped working on my MX-5. It would only move up a tiny little bit. I tried to reset the window using the electrics but that didn’t work. So I’ve taken off the indoor door card and I’ve tried to replace the window regulator. I’ve got a spare one and it’s ready to go. The problem is is that the window is all the way down at the bottom. I can’t pull it up physically. It feels jammed and I can’t get to the last nut that attaches the regulator to the window to remove it. So I’m stuck. I don’t know what to do. Can anyone give me some advice?

Have you seen this POWER WINDOW REGULATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION | 2016 ND Shop Manual as it may help.

I had this problem when replacing my regulator. I cut the wire operating cables which allowed me to lever the window up

I managed to get this sorted by getting into the final bolt and having a pair of hands help. Next I fitted the new regulator and it still wouldnt work. Seems to be that the window would go down, but not up! There was tension on the wire then assuming it comes from the motor and I guess the motor will only turn one way now. Sounds like that needs reaplcing instead, oh and my regulator assemble unravelled :frowning: hell
