Wiper Blades..

For amusement I called my local dealer for a price on replacement wiper blades - £45 the pair !!!

Buying from MX5 parts is even more expensive…due to postage

time to dig out that Halfords discount voucher or hit Amazon…

I’ve used them a couple of times with success to get Bosch blades.

I usually fit Bosch blades.

Last time I bought for the MX5, pretty sure the total, with discount code, was somewhere around £12 - £15 the pair, from Eurocarparts.

I bought a set of Bosch wiper blades from Amazon, not for the MX-5 though. They were the aero type for my SEAT daily driver, most places were quoting for the original fitment around £45 the pair, mine were £20 delivered and I can’t honestly tell the difference from OEM.

I bought a pair of Bosch replacements with spoiler on the driver’s side, at Halfords last weekend for £19 before discount voucher.

They look very similar to the OEM.

I kept the OEM pair … can’t throw away anything!

Not throwing the old ones away might sound like a hoarding mentality but putting them in the boot seems a better idea. A few years back while traveling late at night from Lincoln to Dorset one of my blades shredded. Pretty much torrential rain all the way. Would have been great to have had an old spare in the boot.

If they are the factory original blades on the car still, ask for just the rubber inserts for them from a Mazda dealer, loads cheaper and a great quality rubber.

I bought these, yes they are more expensive but wow they are good.  I know all you really want is something that wipes the rain and muck of off but these do a brilliant job and look good too.

Had bosch one on before and they were terrible.

Sorry, Robbie, but I’ve never been a fan of that approach as putting new rubber inserts in well used and therefore worn holders means the rubber inserts are not held at the correct angle to the screen.  I much prefer the performance of the newer ‘one-piece’ blade like the Bosch Aero anyway.

I use Wiper Blades own brand in both MX5’s & my wife’s Fabia front & rear, perform well & sensible prices.

I’ve just fitted a set of Bosch Aerotwin hybrids for £20 ish including postage. Recommended by AutoExpress. Now looking forward to some rain

Bosch Aerotwins work well but the passenger side one loses contact with the windscreen at the extreme LH edge near the scuttle. It’s not quite curved or flexible enough.

I really rate the Denso Hybrid wiper blades , available from EuroCarPart, cost about £17 a pair with their usual 25-35% discounts.

Well Im delighted with my purchase - it hasn’t rained at all here since I bought them

Viv (with fingers crossed and umbrella at the ready!)

Before buying new wiper blades try one of the devices at the link below. Fantastic gadget which will save your household a fortune. Wish I had thought of it.
