Two favourites are the Wye Valley from Monmouth down to Chepstow past Tintern Abbey and secondly from Leek in Staffs through Buxton, Glossop along the reservioirs and over Holme Moss to Holmfirth (maybe a bit long to be called a “road” but it has everything you can want from an hours driving - and you end up in Yorkshire which is a bonus!!)[:)]
Two roads from Huntley leading to the Wye valley:
The A40, through the Forest of Dean, to Ross-on-Wye.
Alternatively, the A4136, via Mitcheldean, to Monmouth (turn left before crossing the Wye at Monmouth for the run down to Chepstow).
Both good driving roads…
The Tintern Abbey / Monmouth area was, in fact, featured on Britain’s Best Drives on BBC4 last week. Been on that road myself in the family wagon a few years ago and will be doing it in the MX-5 in July; can’t wait as it’s a lovely area…and the kids won’t be with us!
