XCELERATE Fuel Tablets

When fuel, especially E5 was much higher than it is now I began looking at ways to improve my mpg. Now the MX5 has never been class leading when it comes to mpg, being a convertible does not help, but as this car is my daily driver I took interest in the Xcelerate Fuel Tablets my brother had tried and was selling to his friends. As a sceptic I decided to keep a log of the mpg, which I show below.
6 tablets were £30, and these can be broken in half, as each tablet does 80 litres so half is needed per fill up costing £2.50 a time.
I was told to expect a drop in consumption initially as the tablets cleaned the engine and this was born out in the chart. The main benefit I found was improved performance , especially pulling up hills. The engine seemed smoother and pulled away with very little throttle compared to before.
If anyone is interested in learning more or trying them my brother Paul can be contacted on PM me for details

|Refill No|Litres|. Gallons|. Range to refill|. MPG|

|12|. 36.47|. 8.03|. 328.3|. 40.88|

Normal fuel consumption|33-36 MPG before tablets.

I would be very sceptical, looks like good old fashioned snake oil to me. Sorry.

What fuel was used during your testing?

Even Mad Malc is sceptical, and he is, well, mad.

Decades ago I remember stuff that if only the petrol companies would stop taking them to court your transport would cost a great deal less with this or that additive. All you need is a baddy( multi national petrol companies ) and your conspiracy theory is done and dusted. Lazy doesn’t solve real problems.

I’ve had a notion for quite some time…the only additive to the fuel mix should be …NITRO

I use Shell V-Power which probably costs me less than £2.50 extra per tank. I get a quality fuel, higher octane, E5, and decent detergents included.

When evo magazine did an engine teardown of two fleet vehicles, one of which had been run on V-Power and the other on regular Shell, they found the V-Power engine to be significantly cleaner.

The packaging says “Safe for Gas, Diesel and Petrol”. Am I missing something here but I’m assuming Gas means LPG or CNG, how do you get a tablet into those tanks?

They’re an American product, so I read ‘gas’ as ‘gasoline’.

What’s petrol then?

I only ever use E5 as it’s a NB1. Either from Shell or Sainsbury’s.

Drop half a tablet in when I fill up

Looks like an attempt to sell something so moving to off topic sales, per the forum rules contact the OP by PM if you want to follow up
