Take A1 towards Newry travel to Banbridge by pass and take B48 to Rathfriland.
On reaching Rathfriland, Turn left and follow main road, then turn right following signs for Hilltown.
At Hilltown turn right head towards Newry after a few 100 yards (just before leaving the town) turn left onto the Yellow road. At the end of this road follow signs to The Rooskey Scenic Loop this road will take you into Rostrevor.
At Rostrevor turn right and head Via narrow water Castle to Newry then follow signs for Dublin.
As you head up the hill out of Newry we will stop and regroup as we may get split up in traffic coming through Newry.
Then we head towards Slievegullion Forest Park following the road towards Forkhill via Meigh village
The Forest park entrance will be on your right hand side of the road.
Proceed to car park stop.
Cafe/restaurant (which seems to be excellent)
Toilets etc.
Late Lunch/Picnic break at this time, depending on weather.
As we leave the forest park we will follow the forest drive route which is very scenic with lots of places to stop for photos.
This road is also single track and is about 5 miles long and returns you to the main road back to Newry.
As it is late in the year some of the MX5s’ are of the road for the winter so it is not a problem if you turn up in your everyday car.
