I have two wires running to my cigarette lighter, one yellow, one black. Is it safe to assume the yellow one is the positive. I need to take a power tap.

It’s not certain without checking, have you not got a test meter to check? Or look at where they join to the socket, the negative will go to the body of it.
It was the yellow. Now got power.
