As per a previous post, I need front and rear discs for my ND 2.0 Se-L Nav. The original Mazda ones have badly corroded on the inside faces after 3 years/22k Miles. Pretty shoddy if you ask me, but, anyone have experience with Zimmerman discs from Autodoc? They look decent enough, and allegedly they have them in stock. I would prefer EBC ones, but they only do the fronts at the moment, no ETA on the rears…
I think if you go for any discs they will be fine. The main issue with any MX5 is contaminated calipers. My Mk3 was a disgrace.I now strip the brakes annually(have 2 sets of calipers) so will swap them over if needed and service the old) and they stay tip top. Nice shiny discs around no rust spots and no brakng imbalance.
I was wandering around looking at 3’s and 4’s a few weeks back.Evan some Mk4 demo’s looked like very little of the rear pads where actually making contact with the disc.Same with a few Mk3’s and it does look terrible to see a nice car with rusty discs.Im not talking about light surface rust because a cars been standing. This is proper grainy rust with a 1" band of smooth contact on the disc.
Thanks Davyo, that is pretty much what mine look like, so will see if new pads and discs cure the issue
Zimmerman discs have a reputation for warping however that is in track day circles so not sure about average road use.
