Who else owns one of these fantastic cars? Does anyone know if there is a register for this model anywhere in the world?

hey, we own one too. great car
Bought mine about 6 weeks ago. You are based not far from where I work, in Sheffield. I love the car, but my seats are full leather, it would appear the originals have been replaced for whatever reason, not that I am complaining. Mine came with the sport pack body kit as well. Yours is quite a high number in the edition, I am under the impression that number 7500/7500 is based in Scotland although I am still waiting for confirmation of this.
Regards Martin
Hi, there’s another one here No 7214.
Ian
Lot’s of high numbers here I see, has anyone got a number lower than mine??
I think we should all ask if we can reserve a specail 10AE parking area at the Spring Rally if you are going. I know sometimes at the rallies there try and park cars with regards to the colouring, let’s get in first and say that we would like an allocated area.
I too have one of these (fantastic!) 10th anniversary editions! Mine’s number 6597. I love it!!
With regards to next years spring rally, what a cracking idea!! I’ll just look for the ‘blue’ cars then!!
Paul.
I will see what I can arrange with the Rally organiser nearer the time.
Ok thanks for that. It’d be great if we could all park in the same area!
Also, just to add to your ‘question’ about the numbering of these, it seems to me that the UK got most of the ‘higher’ numbers in the build range and the rest of the markets (Japan etc) got most of the ‘lower’ numbers. This is just my observation though as since I’ve owned mine I’ve been looking at other 10ae build numbers on the wing badges. (sad I know)!
Good luck with the arrangements for next year and Merry Christmas and all the best for 2011.
Paul.
That’s why I questioned the higher numbers, it could mean that maybe I have one of the lowest 10AE’s in the UK, unless anyone knows anything different. It makes me wonder if at some point in it’s life mine was imported, with the after market full leather seats with the blue leather insert on the back set. As I have mentioned before, mine also has the sports pack body kit, the original alloy wheels have also gone and have been replaced with a nice OM set.
I also have a friend in the North East Midlands club who owns one, I am waiting for his number.
This could take some time, out of the six hundred cars that came to the UK, we have four definite’s, (Numbers 1197, 6597, 7214 & 7482), we need to weedle some more out, there can not only be four of us as members of the OC, but where are they and what are their numbers? I would love the owner of 7500 to come forward, if it is based in Scotland, as I am led to believe. Talking of Scotland, from my V5 it would appear that my car has always been UK based, (I am only the third owner), so why such a low number? Questions, questions.
Am I becoming a bit obsessed with this? Or is it just healthy Mazda limited edition mania?
I have been in touch with Sarah (Mazda Chick) about the Spring rally, so keep an eye open for a dedicated area for the 10AE owners area. I will fight the cause, for what I believe should have been the first “milestone” real limited edition, I am not saying the other limited editions (Nevada, Arizona, Gleneagles, Merlot, Etc), should not be acknowledged. Yes, ten years of a truly great, iconic, sports car. Why didn’t Mazda do a fifth anniversary car? I can understand 20, 21 & 25th anniversary. Will there be a 50th AE? That would be a great achievement, but would a gold (not bronze), coloured car really be accepted as a sports car?
#6572 here!
Martin,
Just seen this thread, Number 7500 is a lot closer to you than Scotland In fact it’s only about an hour away at Lincoln area, trust me, I own it

Welcome on board, “Top Of The Shop”. Well that dis-spells the rumour then. You are literally just over the border. I see that this was your “Virgin” post too so welcome to the owners club as well. Would be great to see the wing badge.
Martin,
I’ll try and sort the wing badge for you but posting it here may be a problem as computers aren’t my strong point. I’ve had the car since 2006 and it had 4 owners prior to me so unfortunately the certificate of authenticity never came with it. I have contemplated writing to mazda to see if they would be able to issue something that would confirm all the history ie, its the last 10AE built, but maybe if there is a register/registrar out there somewhere then that could be another route. I’ve recently had the rear arches all taken care of and the paint blown in so overall it’s in good nick but not to sure how far to go with any “full restoration” as its not worth any more than any other mx of the same year. Maybe if things go to plan for the spring rally then I’ll take it down there as I work in Kent during the week and could stay for the w/end to attend.

I am the third owner of mine and still have the address of the gentleman that bought it from new. I am going to write to him in the New Year and see if I can track down the original certificate, if he hasn’t got I can ask the owner prior to me. As for the other goodies they are changing hands for silly money on e-Bay, as much as I would like all of them, I have other priorities at the moment.
A word of warning, just because the car may be number 7500/7500 it does not mean it was the last built as the badges where fitted by the dealer (or in the case of my RX-8 40th Anniversary left in the glove box for me to fit). If they had two or more cars in at the same time they could of easily been mixed up and that is assuming they got into the correct car in the first place.
You need to comiple a regisiter with VIN numbers against badge numbers to confirm.
As you will already know only 600 out of the 7500 came to the UK the rest are around the world and I know of one in the States that is now dead, I can try and find out the details of that car if you wish.
