Out and about for a mid week blast and found myself at Berwyn slate quarry, halfway up horseshoe pass near Llangollen in on a beautiful cold crisp day in early December 2019. Kathryn and I had just acquired Cilla (Black! Think about it) and had been discussing getting a piece of slate for a hearth. Suffice to say the piece I bought wouldn’t fit in the passenger seat and ended up in the boot with the lid tied shut! Ruined the handling on the way home to Runcorn!

Cheers!

One of the places we go to is the Steam Fair at the Weald and Downlands Museum (where the Repair Shop barn is), these are pictures from 18th August 2019 where several of the MX-5 OC groups combined for the visit for the day, with a prime show spot on the hillside. It rained on the way there, but then the sun came out.

On the way down we were stuck behind this mighty Scammel for a few miles, at 20mph max,

How about driving one of these Stanley Steamers, also top-down motors
1903 BS8052, oldest working in the UK and second oldest in the world (40mph possible)

1914 Stanley 606 Gentleman’s Roadster (60mph possible at 901rpm)

Traditional entertainment was also available

As well as traditional horsepower

Bought last october with the idea of getting it out & about in 2020 - it may remain a ‘garage queen’ until 2021 if lockdown goes on for long enough. I’m even considering SORNing it, and not re-insuring!

Get well soon.
Jealous of your Z Sport - sold mine a few years ago and wish I never had. Now driving a Mk4 (nowhere near as much fun!)
Here’s an alternative view I took of mine.

Interesting you say you prefer the ZSport as when all this is over was thinking of treating myself to a ND poss a red Recaro as enjoying this car so much. Got me thinking whether to ‘upgrade’ now.

Everybody is different. There’s nothing wrong with an ND Recaro - I bought one from new in 2016 and chose Ceramic (I don’t like red). It’s fun to drive and is reliable as you would expect, but it just doesn’t have the same ‘character’ as the Z Sport. It also doesn’t have those fabulous BBS wheels, which were a pain to clean, but so nice!!!
Could be I’m remembering EZO (last letters of the numberplate) with rose tinted specs, or maybe it could have something to do with the fact that I ditched the Michelen Preceda tires that it came with, had the suspension lowered and then tuned by a specialist. The car was a dream to drive and put a smile on my face every day. I traded it in when it was just 4 years old and wished I hadn’t.
I had two other Sport models before buying the Recaro - they were just A to B cars, nothing special, hence the rapid turnover.
My suggestion is to find an ND Recaro and take it for a test drive when things return to normal. As you still have the Z Sport, you can make an accurate comparison.
