If you can fix bikes Iām sure you can fix cars itās just some things are harder to access. Best thing to do if you donāt want to pay a lot would be to find one breaking with it fitted, that way you can make sure you get everything you need and see how it all fits. The most awkward thing to fit is the pump as you have to lift in from underneath and it only just goes through gap. Also if yours is like mine was although threaded mounting holes will be there they will be rusty and you have to clean up threads. If you do manage to find second hand and fit yourself then total cost including filling system should work out about Ā£200. Be easy enough to list parts you need if you want

Mk1 definitely wonāt fit, the later models are different. Not sure about early mk2 but I would recommend getting it all from a 2.5. Engine size does not matter

I am lucky to know people who can fit it for me or help me shall we shallā¦ no problem sorting threads if needs beā¦ and with regards to tight spacesā¦I can only say bikes are a nightmare

Took the newly purchased Eunos to Halfords Autocentre for a diagnostic and re-gas, 3 hours later got told it couldnāt be done, machine would not fit?
At the next National Rally lets all bombard @Ambasize with all the rusted bolts weāve been struggling to get undone ! 
(Iāve got 15 to go on my other car and it isnāt going easily

@as400 - I donāt know if itās possible to buy/permitted in the UK but I saw in the USA you can buy generic self-fill bottles so anyone can re-gas their AC. Maybe something to look into, or find your nearest MX-5 specialist and get them to do it. Hope they didnāt charge you for that 3 hours though.

No charge for no charge!..Halfords autocentre offer a free diagnostic/leak check then a re-gas for Ā£50ā¦thought it sounded a good deal but alas no result. No rush, will hunt around for another local supplier.
You can pick up gas refills on eBay easy enough depending on year of car and gas type used. I know the 2.5 gas is available about Ā£20 for a can, but if you get done at reputable garage they should pump out all the old stuff and pressure test system before they fill so worth doing that if filling from scratch
Hi Ambasize, I have a mk1 aircon compressor if they fit your car free of charge, I removedit from my mk1 I have just restored, donāt need it.yours if you want it.

When I used to have to sit in hot sweaty bus cabs all day I and many others took an old bath sheet to sit on. It did absorb the moisture and prevented one sticking to the cab seat.
Iām tempted to start taking mine tbhā¦

Iāve just spent a week covering 1,000 miles touring the north-east in my Mk 3 Launch Edition. With temperatures up to 30c, 95% of the time we had the roof down and the air-con and suncream on. It was hot but not too uncomfortable and by avoiding motorways, it was a whole load of fun!

If its any use to you I have a mk2.5 that we are breaking for the engine to be fully built as a spare and im 90% sure that car has a full AC system on it which you could have for the cost of your time and fuel collecting it as we would only throw it away.
If your interested let me know and I can check one evening this week to make sure its 100% there etc.
