New member here, I read these comments with interest. I ordered my 1.5 Exclusive Line RF early April ‘25 and collected it three weeks later. Was this model unaffected by recall issues?
I also note that my Certificate of Conformity states date of manufacture as September 2024, which seems quite a lengthy period from actual sale date. Dealer said it was on route from Hiroshima when initially querying lead time.

It may well be. I recall when I got mine summer of '18, I deduced it has a V3 transmission. I thought it would have had a V4 which had been doing the rounds for a good 6-7 months by that point. And the tyre dates were late Sept of '17, too. It hadn’t been at the dealership too long either. So that build/transit/shipping etc time scale you were told might not be too far out
I just don’t notice it for months. Seriously I’ve just been out to the car to make sure it’s still there! I use the boot often enough and it never intrudes. So what is it that so offends?
Maybe it’s like those spots we had as teens; you can’t help seeing it every time you look in the mirror/ look at you car?
Man up chaps. There’s nothing wrong with having a small one. And if having an aerial on the back reminds you of some awful radio-controlled car of your youth get over it.
It’s true that small looks silly on first impressions. Just look an original mini with four people in it. But that was a common sight back a long. If there is something that beats having such a tactile,responsive car it’s the fact it’s so small and will wriggle though the tiniest gaps when push comes to shove.
I feel a lot better today
So this week I passed 1k miles in my new car - actually up to 1200 as I write this.
I wish I could report a happy 1000 miles, but afraid not.
Don’t get me wrong the car is great,but I’d only had it a week when it was hit by another car while my wife was driving it. The damage is relatively light - she wasn’t moving and the other car pulled out of a side road and drove straight into the side of her. Claiming not to have seen the bright red sports car in broad daylight!
So the rear wheel arch and drivers door got it.
Wife phoned his insurance first and was encouraged to let them sort out the repairs and we don’t even have to bother our insurance - which of course is a lie I’ve had to inform them, but they are really taking their time getting it booked in - I really wish I’d gone through my insurance.
Going to phone again today to chase them again but we’re off on a 2 week holiday tomorrow so it’s obviously not going to get fixed until well into August.
Not gonna lie, it’s totally dampened my enthusiasm for the car. I haven’t even washed it once.
Yes, that’s a complete nightmare mate. Really feel your pain.
I’d check to see if their insurance is a Mazda approved place. Car repairs can be all over the place and SRC isn’t an easy colour to match.
I was once hit in a car and even though it was their fault, I ran MY insurance and said I’m not going through an everyday joe chain repair place, and insisted on a manufacturer approved one. They were totally fine (after all they billed the other person’s insurance in the end). Good luck with it all, and you’re totally warranted to feel as cheesed off as you are. That’s the thing with our (and any enthusiasts cars (or anyone’s really))- we unfortnatley aren’t the only people on the road, and we can molly coddle our cars/spend thousands and thousands getting them/do all sorts of alternative care methods with them, but it can all seem pointless in a second.
So the other guy’s insurance have this other company called Nationwide to handle this claim, and this company we’ve been dealing with so far. They Then get another company to arrange the repairs and another company to deal with the liability… no wonder premiums are high and claims take a long time…
Anyway, last time I phoned Nationwide was the beginning of last week and they said it was still waiting for approval…
So it seems by posting this morning I manifested the second company to call me… liability has been established and the repair approved.
They told me that they don’t rush cars in for repair if they are driveable like mine is, which makes sense especially if parts are needed. We could be in for another long wait like the arrival of the vehicle if it takes a long time to get parts - because obviously none have been ordered yet.
So next I wait for a call once a repairer is allocated…
Gone past that stage now (as you’ve contacted an insurer), but if an accident happens, ‘one’ can call ‘Call Mazda first’ and they then deal with it. A mate got a Mazda3 and was hit, and did the call mazda first. They basically handled it, and above all, it went to a Mazda approved bodyshop. I recall the only faff he had was once it was given the green light, he did a bit of running around (the Mazda place isn’t to far from him), as getting it booked in was taking a bit of time. But the end repair was great.
Yeah, my first MX-5 came with a mini card on my key fob, a card above the sun visor, and stickers on the windows all with the Call Mazda First message. I don’t think I got any of that this time, do Mazda still do it?
Yes, they still do it. A lot of manufacturers do.
There should at least be a card in the owner’s wallet if nothing else.

Ah to be honest it hasn’t come out of the glove box since I took delivery of the car, which is down to me obviously. Don’t recall seeing it on the window stickers though
Don’t fret on it. It’s one of those things we rarely think of before something like this occurs. And even then, it’s not like it’s a 100% guarantee a repair will be perfect just because a Mazda approved place does it. People are people after all with different skill sets and work attitudes. Just a case of trying to reduce the infinite variables.
It’s nothing to do with the car. Except it’s small and inconspicuous and you have to drive with that in mind.
