Any opinions on pedders suspension?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Mk2 1999 1.8
  2. I’m based near: Cheltenham
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Suspension replacement

The suspension on my Mk2 is absolutely knackered after 155K miles and 23 years.
I’m looking to replace the control arms, bushes, shocks and springs.

I’m looking to keep it pretty much OEM as I’ve not got the budget for decent coilovers, and I’d rather have OEM over cheap crashy coilovers.

I was quoted a little over £1000 from Mazda for a full set of OEM shocks and springs.

However I keep seeing the brand Pedders sold on various Mx5 sites for about £300-£400 for a set, which is a very good price. There aren’t loads of reviews, but the ones that I can find seem to be very positive.

They seem to be an Australian brand offering high quality aftermarket OEM spec.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of them?

I’d be tempted to get a recommendation for a local MX5 specialist and see what they advise.
You may be right about the springs and bushes but reputable people like Bilstein etc. will do standard replacement shocks for any car much cheaper than a dealer. Don’t be tempted by fancy nylon aftermarket bushes though.
A very well regarded acquaintance of mine used to work on Jaguar suspension development and would only recommend normal bushes for a road car.
