I’ve a 1.8NC and am thinking about a remap and non cat manifold. But reading this thread it seems the MOT testers have tightened down on this. Is there an option of remap with catted manifold that doesn’t impact the already small increase in bhp quoted by performance lynx?
I even found up top it felt quite flat in comparison
You’ll be alright. You’ll be spending about £800 for a catted manifold that’s actually decent and that’s the bbr one
There’s a BBR one on eBay for £600. Been there some time. It’s not very shiny. I wonder if that puts people off?
It doesn’t take long for stainless headers to “blue” and look aged.
Something bikers have accepted for many years.
For me - as you hardly ever see it - the aged look would not be an issue.
Pretty shoddy material used and fabrication to make this in my opinion.
My ILMS looks pretty mint after 6 years on the car.
It’s because it’s catted you don’t know what the mileage is on it. Early bbr cats can fail
That will be due to its age the quality off bbr exhausts are some of the best
Hmmm, that’s not quality materials or fabrication work by any standards.
Yours does look good with quality materials and fabrication.
Thanks for the comparison. ![]()
Have to disagree never had a bbr part fail. Welds look fine in that picture too
Your words not mine. ![]()

You realise they don’t make cats the cats ?
Clearly, you are an avid supporter of BBR which is absolutely fine and why not be.
I know they do not actually make the internals and buy in like they all do.
But they do put it all together and put a tacky BBR plate on it too.
So let’s agree to disagree as it’s pointless arguing over a difference of opinion.

That’s fair. I’m not a massive supporter just speaking from my experience (facts) of using their products. Most companies use those plates for branding. It’s the only catted manifold I would use along with the Goodwin racing. The rest look awful
