Bettabuilda's AHURA MAZDA

Hi and thanks for posting :+1: When I first saw the grey ones, I could not believe how big they are? Massive! I was at a disadvantage though, as I didn’t take the side skirts off myself? Hopefully, both will be fine, i do have a lot of the door card clips on standby if it’s an issue.

Been looking at a soft indoor dust cover to put on the car when it comes back home. Would love a customised classic editions one but they’re several hundred pounds and 6-8 week delivery? MX5Parts do the Mazda one at £110 delivered which looks nice :+1:. Anyways found this on Amazon at £30 delivered?

Cosmos 10356 Indoor Car Cover Elastic Breathable Dustproof Full Super Soft Protection 130gsm Fabric in Small, Red https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01EAJ9YM6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ETJMAMDYK8SBCJ9WXGAZ

Ordered Monday and due for delivery tomorrow? One of the international reviews mentions the Fiat 124 and bought the small size, so that’s what I’ve gone for. Will report back when it’s on the car :red_car:

I can recommend the soft blue cover from mx5 Parts. It’s a cracking custom fit and to me something of a bargain. Very soft fabric

Morning Dave, that will be my next choice if this one doesn’t pass muster!

Barry, I also recommend soft blue cover from mx5 Parts. Bought it 4 years back still looks good.

Thanks John, yes it certainly looks very ‘fitted’ plus Mazda logo! As said, will give the one I’ve ordered a look over and see what I make of it? :+1:

Just had this through from body shop. Only base coat sprayed but I think it looks really nice, like a brushed aluminium finish? :+1:

They did send these but poor quality pics.

It’s looking like a nice job Barrie. More base coat or top coat next?

TBH Dave, I’m not sure  I will see what they have to say. I did suggest they leave it as it is? I think it looks fabulous! :+1: I have asked that they spray more coats of clear as I really would like it to have some ‘depth’ to the finish. On a side note, looking more closely at the picture, it looks like the belt line moulding has also been removed? They really have stripped it down! :+1:

Barrie

Once it’s painted will they cut and polish or are you doing this? As you say, a few coats of clear will give depth, but this will still need finishing for the best finish

Dave, the shop are doing all of this work right through to completion, including reassembly of the myriad of parts :joy::joy::joy:

I have one of those car covers for my ND, I went for the medium instead though. No problems with it not caused any scratching to the paintwork and I have been pleased with it.

A short walk round video of where they are up to today. Black bits tomorrow to be painted, roof, windscreen surround, mirrors and front badge✅

I think it will be fine for you. Mine hangs to the floor which suits me, but I would like to know how the small fits, because for their price I might get a small as well!!

This morning, I watched back the video I posted, on the television in the lounge. Then, looking at the section which shows the slam panel, (this had some terrible wear where the rubber seal on the bonnet rubs) I thought what a great job they’d done? Suddenly, I looked again and thought they’d removed the VIN sticker during prep and sprayed the panel without it! I was mortified :flushed:
So, I pinged off a very nice message asking for clarification on this, as we discussed at great length about preserving all 11 of these VIN stickers.
Anyway, I’ve been for my 2nd COVID jab this morning and as I was going out to car, my neighbour (body shop) was just setting off for work so I had a word. He said they had not removed or painted any of the VIN stickers and actually looked offended?
So, fast forward an hour, message back saying all was as it should be? This got me thinking so while sat for the obligatory 15 minutes after my jab, I looked back through my picture album on the phone. Guess what? The sticker is fixed to the black parts that have been removed with the front bumper! Senior moment or what? Promptly sent an apology along with the pic and this is the reply,

:slightly_smiling_face: don’t worry I understand that you like your car more than other things

Just about sums it up for me! :joy::joy::joy:

Anyway, all good again!

You are just like me Barrie and many other owners. I worry when mine goes even for MOT, not if it going to fail, if they done something they shouldn’t have.
How I’d feel if it went in to be stripped like yours and painted gawd knows.
Sometimes it’s, leave it to the experts and let them do there stuff but you’ve got that nagging doubt all the time.
