Your VIN is coming back with P/N N0Y5-43-41Z as the parts kit for the master cylinder. Do you know if this (N0Y5) part number was ordered and it superseded to the D1Y2 number or was the D1Y2 number ordered?

The order stated -

Genuine Brake Master Cylinder Repair Kit with ABS for Mazda MX-5 NA NB 89- 00.

Not sure what was ordered on Mazda by BOFI but what was deliverd was D1Y2-43-41ZA.

The Primary Piston is Identical but the Secondary Piston & Spring are shorter than my original, see photo on forum.

You’ll have to contact Bofi then, unless there has been a supersession, I think that’s the wrong kit for your master cylinder.

D1Y2-43-41ZA Is for the NA with antilock brake

Hi All,

Quick Update, following coms with Mazda Japan overnight they confirm Brake Master Cylinder Repair Kit D1Y2-43-41ZA is now discontinued but was for Early model NB8 with ABS 1997/Dec 2000.

Master Cylinder Repair Kit N0Y8-43-41Z is the kit which most resembles my existing Master Cylinder internals (from photo comparisons) This kit is from 2000 year NB8 Sis with ABS - June 2000 - June 2002.

This kit is now on order and when I receive it I’ll compare it like for like & advise.

What I find strange from the Mazda Nomenclature above, is that my car is a 1999 1.8iS manufactured in February 1999 & Shipped to the UK in May 1999?

Did you not check on the availability of the N0Y5 kit? Being as that is the one listed for your MX-5.

I did advise BOFI of the correct recommendation, they are checking with Mazda, will let you know the outcome.

Ive now had confirmation from Mazda that Part Number N0Y5-43-41Z Brake Master Cylinder Repair Kit with ABS is No Longer Available.

I’m pursuing other options and will advise.
