Right folks we now have the definitive arrangements for Ken’s Northampton Fish & Chip Run to Hunstanton on Sunday 12th April.
Those wishing to go direct to Hunstanton from this area the plan is as follows:
Meet at the BP Garage/Little Chef on the A10 roundabout at Ely at 08.45 this will give you time for a coffee etc. in the Little Chef and then leaving Ely prompt at 9.15am.
After various conversations with Ken he has got an access permit that clearly states arrival time of 11.00 am, but as his group have got no chance of being on site by then, I have agreed with him that the good old Cambridgeshire area will get him out of any embarasement by us being there before 11.00 so that we can quickly mark out a parking area and get any flags raised beforehand, this is assuming that I’m not the only one going. I do understand that because of the misunderstanding between Ken and West Norfolk Council he has spoken with David Poulter, and David has also agreed to be there early.
One final point, the permit that Ken has got does state that we should be on site until 4.00 pm, I think this is the same as when Steve Bainbridge has organised our own Cambridgeshire Hunstanton event, and the change of arrival time is probably down to the earlier time in the year.
If anybody wants to join Ken’s group on route the meet point is:
Eurogarages/Starbucks Service Area, A47 Wisbech by Pass, approx 11.00 am
How long is a piece of string? We are planning to leave Ely at 9.15 sharp, and would guess with a good run it should take 45 minutes, so that would put us at the Hardwick roundabout for 10.00, where on earth can you wait to be able to pick us up?
Would it not be easier/safer for you to go straight to Hunstanton?
I’ll see you all up there at some point tomorrow. Can’t make the meet points that early, but may be able to catch up with the other mob at Wisbech services… I should be there one way or another tho.
Yes, enjoyable day at the seaside… but would you believe that my RS got seagulled again!!! This is getting beyond a joke (shop), even the Auto Glym bird dropping wipes wouldn’t shift it this time.
A big thank you to all that helped arrange today’s meet it was kaz and myself first group meet but it wont be our last we received a friendly welcome from every one we chatted to.
Many thanks to all who turned out - 150+ cars we reckon! Special thanks to David Poulter and Bill Medlows for arranging the marshalling so adeptly. Great day and great company. Cromer next year folks?
