Curborough Sprint, September 10th 2022

It looks small but it’s an excellent and fun venue - I’ve done the MX5 sprint taster day a few times, the offical Sprint School and competed there multiple times in MUK events. I’m more than happy doing the very slightly shorter MX5 course (and have already booked for this day).

I’ve done both layouts, and they are both fun for different reasons.

Can’t wait.

Not sure what the issue is, but all I can say is I’ve been doing Curborough with the Club since way back and its never been anything other than a huge amount of fun. We’ve only ever done the main bit of the circuit, either starting from the bottom gate near the pits or the top gate near the marshal’s post. We’ve done it clockwise, anticlockwise, and figure of 8. It might be a tiny little circuit but it perfectly formed, and whilst a run may not take much more than a minute (or it might be 2, can’t recall) its a glorious minute (or 2). I’m booked, and can’t wait…

Thank you for the replies guys. Yes, Iainf, having thought further on it, I can see how starting at the pits gate makes it possible for more runs in the day. I used to get only 4 per day (when I was competing a long time ago) with all the different classes having to take turns running as a group to and from the far start point.

So I apologise for my winge and will still join in and enjoy the day. Looking forward to it. Cheers, Jerry

For the uninitiated, whatever the signs say, if you are coming in from the west from the A515, don’t turn right too early down Watery Lane into Curborough village, past the garden centre, as I did the last time I went. Turn back if you do to avoid a time consuming detour.
The course is pretty much level with the wind turbine on the right. The sneaky little entrance is where the road has a red asphalt look about it.
Friendly tip. The A515 south from the A50 has 50 mph average speed cameras - three or four of them in succession to catch out the unwary.

See you all on Saturday, myself and oh are both going to have a go taking my mini beast around

Just wanted to say that this was my first mx-5 owners club motorsports event as well as both of my friends who I’ve dragged into the club too.

For all of us it was our first track day in our own cars and it proved to be a brilliant introduction. We all loved the laid back atmosphere and everyone we met was an absolute pleasure to speak to.

Thanks again for a well organised event and especially to Peter for driving tips.

Might submit our post track-day picture to the photo competition:

Side note - I saw lots of people with cameras at the event taking photos; unfortunately we were all having a great time and didnt take many - if you have any to share I’d love to see them.

Probably half the cars will have zero choice, and some will have like 40 pics

Still uploading, 711 in total here is the link. iCloud Photo Sharing

Still only uploaded 140ish… could take ages.
