I just rang STP Motor Services to get our MX-5 booked in only to be told they no longer do Dinitrol treatments. Apparently one of their people retired and given how labour intensive the process is they don’t have the resource to do it any more. Just when you find someone who does a good job…
I’ve just checked the Dinitrol website and there are two treatment centres listed in the Midlands - one in Tamworth and one just outside Leicester. Does anyone have any experience of either of these?
I’ve also been looking for a place near me (West London) and since the Malvern operation is now closed my next choice would be Rustbuster (mentioned above) in Spalding.
They claim to meet ISO 9001 in their treatment system (Dinitrol products). The website suggests an MX5 can have a full rustproof for £390 (inc) if no other problems found (very dirty, welding etc). It is quite close to my relatives in Lincolnshire so I could kill two birds with one stone.
I’m now seriously considering them for before this winter as I would find this more convenient if an overnight was required than traipsing across London to somewhere like Kent or Essex, and last month a neighbour warned me off Rustmaster in Hatfield/StAlbans after a problem his work has with them but he would not say any more about it.
Is there somewhere as good (apparently) as Rustbuster but conveniently nearer to M25 J16 that I’ve missed?
I used the Egham, Surrey branch of this company last autumn. Seemed to do a good job (WaxOyl, but also do Dinitrol), although it took a couple of weeks for the smell to go away!
I can highly recommend Rustbuster Spalding, they did a thorough job on my mk1, car very neat and tidy afterwards, drain holes not blocked, process took 2 days
Note added 9.11.16…Signs of rust starting to show in one sill. Maybe the treatment received was not as extensive as that done by the now non-trading Chassis Clean on our first 5? I no doubt had not asked the right questions before making the appointment? I also assumed that a Dinitrol preparation was suitable for treating rusted surfaces and, like Jack’s work at Chassis Clean, it would have been done similarly at ST throughout all the cavities .
Oh well. you learn as you go along and hopefully through the shared wisdom in the Forum you avoid making too many mistakes?
