Dirtyhabit Build + Perfecting the ND = Change Everything

The ITBS and the 260 - yea I had a chat myself with Paul about that. A bit far out my price range that one :joy:. Don’t think it had any Mazda parts left in that engine lol. But we did have a chat about what I was looking for and he basically said ‘put in a set of good cams’. Discouraged / didn’t lead me towards head work.

The wings.

I don’t mind the versus.. it ticks the box for me. But it’s about £2000 which is bloody mental. For that money I would want something that looked as if Mazda spent thousands on RnD and it was from their flagship ‘GTR-R model or something :joy:

My general favourite comprise was the ‘street wang’, (949 racing?I thought that looked decent, until I saw a side view. Yuk.

on carbonmiata there are some GT wings which I like to look at, but something then isn’t right (as in, height looks ok but the feet look too central. Or feet are wide but the spoiler is then wider than the car itself. )

I don’t have the tab open while typing, but I recall GT Type 6 was one of my preferred. And there was a type 2 which looked flat as a plank of wood :joy:. Prices of those are 300-500. Much more realistic

Some wings, and my own thoughts

Nine loves racing, street wang.

From the rear angle I really like this profile. And it has supporting data showing real world downforce. But then the side view looks awful.

These two are on my shortlist. Will do sod all for downforce but look as though they are meant to be on the car. First one is called ‘dragon wing’ and the second one is a Odula.

Top of the shortlist at the moment is this I think. GT version 2 swan neck. Looks a bit more purposeful . Side angles show the wing has a decent looming angle and a moulded in gurney flap.

The discs are on the wrong side!

Oh ffs. Yes they are

Well that’s tomorrow night’s entertainment sorted

EDIT

Oh no!! Oh no oh no!

I just checked the fronts….

Just order new front discs. Sod it. Might explain the warp. Possibly I’ve been trapping heat in them! Bin

The thing about these wings is the mountings to the boot/trunk lid l just don’t like them that’s one of the reasons of my self build and also the weight of them ….! But mine is for looks rather than practicality…..!

spoiler - found it! found ‘‘the one’’

The bodykit isnt for me, but that spoiler is spot on! nice and wide, and be colour coded easily, and not as tall as the roof.

Urgent care is where you need to go …..

‘ooops’ . my first of a few winter upgrades.

a forum member was selling 2nd hand so thought worth a punt.

Ive got the catted bbr version. which i proved on rolling road and ecu data that it made more power than OEM once fitted. but, the noise increase was 1% at best.

im hoping i can get some extra decibels. but, also see if there are any hidden horses.
Might help to ‘inform’ some peeps in the future who are debating one or the other (if MOT isnt priority/concern…).

should get it fitted by mid Nov. keep eyes open for a before and after v.dyno like previous

Realised i hadnt added this tabe to my thread. but ive been tracking the large items on and off in terms of weight.
just weighed in the BBR de-catted manifold, and thats bang on 11lbs (1.6lbs lighter than their catted one.)

adding table to here for general reference.
im down in weight in total across the car. but thats largely due to unsprung savings.

the underbody section i forgot to weigh when i put the Verus on, so now will be a good time to fuly populate it

13 posts were split to a new topic: Component weights

The purpose of recording the weight is for peoples knowledge, and contribution to knowledge. Websites dont publish weight and for some nerds like me, we like all sorts of numbers. there may be a forum member or elsewhere searching for this data and this could be of importance to them.

dont confuse recording of weight as the same as expecting performance increase from saving half a loaf. lol.

got new parts to weigh in
the Hardrace full chassis kit is here.

i still think the blue is a bit razzy for my taste, but the colour is a nice deep metalic, looks better than the online pics.
eitherway, its going under the car
oddly, none of these parts feel heavy, and i cant bend or flex any of these, except one…
The center ‘X’ is by far the heaviest item in this kit (by feel in the hand), but i am able to torsion twist it. not surprised, i had predicted that for this item. but surrprised at its weight.

the front ‘arms’ (cant think what to call them now…) which tie in to the back of the engine tray are actually a daul-layer. (see pics) they are really light and rock solid!

my xmas is going to be busy! got to fit these, remove the Verus panels, create a new flat floor. and ‘while im there’ also swap the manifold out and do the oil.

Please do let me know if you need a home for the Verus panels
