Flying Miata offer a DRL kit that utilises the turn/park functions of the car whereby you have a dual element LED which acts as a DRL and also as the turn signal.
My questions are : does anyone know where to source this, or similar, in the UK and does the owners club organise group buys if there is enough demand?
Hi, you can get a similar kit for pennies (£15 or less) that replaces our indicator bulbs with Switchback LEDs that can be both white and orange, and the white automatically turns off when orange is on, then back on after a sec.
I have these in my car front and rear (for extra reverse lights) and they’re great. Minimal crimp wiring required with a cheap relay (literally a few minutes and £20 in parts + tools or less) and look at the result:

There are much brighter options too, which I’m currently comparing and testing.
I have never seen this happen so would not expect so.
Any issues getting it through the MOT?
Yeah same here, they are very obviously aftermarket but they don’t seem to care for MOT. I’ve even heard they allow LED headlight bulb replacements fairly often!
This is a pretty common NC mod and I’ve never heard of anyone having an issue. Worst comes to worst, the connectors for DRL on the kit can be unplugged and an indicator swapped back in once a year. You don’t even need to jack the car up, just turn the wheel for each side.
Will be writing all about my custom headlight conversion when I carry it out. Waiting for some LED PCB modules and projector lenses to arrive 
MOT might be a little complicated then…

Any T20 switchback kit with resistor should work without any other modification (except for wiring in the DRL function).
I just did a quick eBay search and found this: 2 X T20 7440 42-LED 2835 50W Dual-Color Switchback LED DRL Turn Signal Light Kit | eBay UK
Looks the same as my front ones.
Another (albeit more expensive) option are these Carbon Miata lights for NB and NC which not only provide DRLs but also change the foglights to LED.
If you put them into later NCs the fog surrounds require surgery loads of pics to show this but its a bit of hassle.
I had the same issue with some ultra cheap fog lights and I’d say it’s so not worth it.
You can get some that fit well for way cheaper. That kit is actually for sale for about 1/10 the price from some Chinese supplier websites sometimes.
